Wanting to build a PC during summer (1660 super, 5 3600 or 5 2600, 16GB ram , SSD) need help

Comfizuki

Budget (including currency): around 1200$ CAD

Country: Canada (Montreal)

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: stream, warzone, valorant etc

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): i'd like to have a 1660 super and either a 5 3600 or 5 2600 and 16 GB of ram, SSD.

I want to get a PC during summer but the GPU shortage is really ruuning things for me. What should i do? Should i wait for the gpus to be back (no clue when) OR buy a prebuilt? If you recommend getting a prebuilt please list some sites that have pc's. I found some but they don't have the parts i need

You really answered the question when ya said ya want it this summer, because with how things going right now, at best we'll have GPU back at normal stock by winter/spring this year. Buy a prebuilt, and for a brand choice something like iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC i usually keep an eye on, specifically on their customizer menu. And why do ya wanna stuck on last gen? Get a 5600X with a 3060Ti, or 10400 with a 3070 (sometimes you can get both CPU config with 3070 but iirc most prebuilts have their price locked).

$1200 is a tight budget, typically we won't recommend anything less than $1400-$1500 CAD if you want current-gen specs.

You could squeeze a 3060 in there at maybe $1300, but you'll be stuck with a 10400.

Anything less, and I'd have trouble recommending it. Here's what you can get:

Winter/Spring is being optimistic, don't act surprised at that. It's more likely Q4 next year to be quite frank.

Yes, you should wait. In the mean time, you can save more money so that you can actually afford current-gen specs.

With gpu prices now youll have to downgrade your entire system just to fit one in your budget, so better off buying a prebuilt tho look at the online reviews for the prebuilt that you are gonna buy, sometimes prebuilts have some questionable parts/design choice or they are just outright garbage.

And if you dont like the prebuilt then just change/upgrade some of the parts like maybe you dont like the case because it looks like garbage or has literal garbage airflow which causes the everything to overheat
