5600x + 6900xt vs 5900x RTX 3080/RX 6800XT

Which will get me the most fps? It's for gaming. They are about the same price 🙂 I don't know in what category to post this as I don't find the cpu or gpu section.

edit: nvm i found the cpu section but idk how to move it

5600x and 6900xt for pure gaming but I would do 5900x and 3080 because U might need the extra cpu performance later and the performance is not that noticeable. What do you plan to play tho?

Well, if we're talking strictly gaming, the 5600X will do pretty much the exact same thing as the 5900X... and similarly the 6900XT will be about as fast as a 6800XT/3080, unless you've got both GPUs running side by side and you're constantly staring at the FPS counters.

Then again, if you just plan on playing Minecraft at 1080p, you might not need neither a 5600X nor a 3080/6800XT. Therefore, if you could tell us what games you plan on playing and at what resolution/settings, as well as what other components you plan on using, it would be very helpful.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

5900X and 3080. Now that the next gen consoles are 8 cores, there's a clock on the viability of 6 core chips for gaming. While AMD made up significant ground on the GPU front, Nvidia still has the better cards overall.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X · Cooler: Artic Liquid Freezer II 280 · Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 Unify · RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 (2Rx8) · Graphics Card: ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming · Boot Drive: 500GB WD Black SN750 M.2 NVMe SSD · Game Drive: 2TB Crucial MX500 SATA SSD · PSU: Corsair White RM850x 850W 80+ Gold · Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow · Monitor: MSI Optix MAG342CQR 34” UWQHD 3440x1440 144Hz · Keyboard: Corsair K100 RGB Optical-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (OPX Switch) · Mouse: Corsair Ironclaw RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse

I would go for the 5900x and the 3080. The reason being that you would only be slightly faster in some games with the 5600x and the 6900xt but the games where the extra cores from the 5900x matters would make a big difference in performance. Also its good to note that the 5900x would result in more consistent frame timings than the 5600x especially in more cpu demanding games which is alot more important than the extra couple of fps you would get going from and 3080 to a 6900xt.
