What is the relatively unknown sport that you follow?

Nathanpete

I know this isn't unknown, but it certainly is here in my area of the United States. I am an avid follower of Formula 1 and I would wager there are less than 10 serious fans in my medium sized town that I live in.

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Unless I say I am speaking from experience or can confirm my expertise, assume it is an educated guess.

Current setup: Ryzen 5 3600, MSI MPG B550, 2x8GB DDR4-3200, RX 5600 XT (+120 core, +320 Mem), 1TB WD SN550, 1TB Team MP33, 2TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo, Corsair 4000D Airflow, 650W 80+ Gold. Razer peripherals.

Also have a Alienware Alpha R1: i3-4170T, GTX 860M (≈ a 750 Ti). 2x4GB DDR3L-1600, Crucial MX500

My past and current projects: VR Flight Sim: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/nathanpete/saved/#view=dG38Jx (Done!)

A do it all server for educational use: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/nathanpete/saved/#view=vmmNcf (Cancelled)

Replacement of my friend's PC nicknamed Donkey, going from 2nd gen i5 to Zen+ R5: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/nathanpete/saved/#view=WmsW4D (Done!)

Formula 1?

Then you should look up F1 marble races! 😛

Also don't forget E-sports, although some e-sport titles aren't really what I would consider to be an e-sport.

Space Golf, like regular golf, but way better.

Asfor serious answers, none of the sports that I follow are "unknown".

(WARNING: I EDIT MY POSTS ALL THE TIME. GRAMMAR IS HARD.)

"As I, a humble internet browser who frequents the forum of the well known internet tech YouTuber 'Linus Tech Tips', named after host Linus Sebastian, have trouble understanding the intent of the authors' post, I find solace in the fact, that I am indeed not alone in my confusion. While I stumble through the comments above, I am reminded of a quote which helps me to cut through ambiguous and unnecessary verbiage. The simple eloquence of the phrase often uttered on internet forums leaves any reading it in no doubt as to the true intent of the wording. I believe that I, and indeed all of us can take a lesson from the message left by it:"

Its not entirely unheard of its just confusing, no matter how many times ive been explained how it works it still doesnt make much sense

Anyway for obscure sports there is Pig-N-Ford racing, i also like The 24 Hours of Lemons, and School-Bus Racing

So yeah... E-sport is a sport or you could call a lot of other sports to not be a sport.

If it's always fair or follow the right lines a sport would do? no, but cheating and more can happen in either area.

What doesn't make eSports sports?

If darts is a sport, in which the physical exertion is getting munted and throwing darts at a round board, I'd say eSports are sports.

In the case of a game like CS, it's a competitive and highly skill based game where two teams compete for our entertainment. Which matches sports pretty well, only difference is it's played on a PC and not on a pitch or field.

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Only reason its picked up by places like ESPN and friends is because people make money off of it because people are stupid and will pay to watch it.

Darts is not a sport either, bowling is right on the line of being a sport or not, Golf is definitely not a sport either. Motocross and supercross are sports, and are the most physically demanding of all sports.

Playing video games is not a sport.

Just like with football, with cheating, with fans that can ruin the game and communities that are hostile with gambling aspects that they want to benefit from with physical fights.

- "Sport pertains to any form of competitive physical activity or game that aims to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants"

E-sport got that, and you have to be in a certain physical shape and there is physical and mental activity going on depending on the game. "motocross is a a sport"... lol, so you just can't accept it because you dont like it.

Playing video games is not a sport.

It is 100% a sport, and it will become more and more into the big arena (already have).

As in everything becoming more digitalization, physical VR/AR sport could very much become a thing.

And the scope beyond that.

So... just like every other sport. If it doesn't get views, it wont bring in money, so a major channel like ESPN or Sky News wont broadcast it. Why would you watch football? It's just 22 blokes running around a pitch for a ball. Yet we pay football players multimillion pound sallaries for what they do.

Darts is a sport. In fact it's specifically a marker sport.

Also, level of demand needed for a sport isn't a requirement for whether something is or isn't a sport. By that metric, why is motocross more demanding than road racing, freestyle snowboarding/skiing, or any other extreme sport for that matter?

What do they know of England, who only England know?

Motorcross is more demanding because it requires the most amount of physical stress requirement, more than any other sport due to the length of time (30-50 minute races) and having to manhandle a 300'ish pound motorcycle for that whole time.

American football is stupid and boring and i hate how it is so popular, in a game with a play clock of 1 hour it takes 3 hours to play and only has an average playtime of about 11 minutes for the whole damn game how stupid is that?!!
