What's your favorite graphics card?

DarkWillow

What is your favorite graphics card? Looks, performance, nostalgia, maybe it was the first one you could afford after saving your pennies! From the old 3DFX Voodoo cards to the Asus Ares 2, to the modern 3080s, I am curious what the community likes. My personal favorite just in terms of sheer cool factor was the Asus Ares 2, with it's aluminum shroud and integrated liquid cooler, but the GTX 770 will always have a place in my heart as my first graphics card I ever bought

Reference HD7970. There hasnt been a card that has been relevant for that long. That car is 10 years old in 6 months, I could still use it today and it would still work fine for my needs. Honourable mentions would be

HD4870x2, HD5870, HD7990

EVGA GTX 1080Ti series. Ubiquitous, still perform side by side with a 3060Ti, an overclocking beast (the later boards, the earlier ones are ticking time bombs and i know that), and the K|NGP|N edition of that card is still probably my favorite 1080Ti design, ever.

I liked my GTX 580 so much i bought two of them and ran in SLI. Could keep my whole flat warm with those babies!

Against all odds I got a XFX SWFT Radeon RX 6700 and while its the most powerful card I've ever owned, I cant help feeling its not as good as it should be.

Keeping an eye out for the 3070Ti if that's still going to be a thing.

my gtx 970 strix, first real GPU that i bought

after that... hmm... probably my EVGA 3080 FTW3 out of all the cards, looks and performs well

MSI 3090 gaming x trio is also nice, in term of VRAM cooling, performance, and looks

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

It likely will be, since the 3080ti was just leaked, though I am hopeful we get the stock issue sorted... eventually. Still, the 580s were awesome cards for their time, what brand did you use?

I had the KFA2 Anarchy versions. This was inside my old Thermaltake Kandalf case

My old powercolor radeon 9800 pro. The all in wonder. It was my first high end gfx card. I upgraded from a 9200se and the performance increase was amazing. I had it for 3 years then sold it on when I upgraded. I regret selling it on.

Some people say that shortage may will keep going even to the begining of the next year. And the mining is still going preatty good actually some days ago there was a selling of ethereum that made the mining boost up from 10 euros to 17 euros or even to 20 euros

HD 4870 x2. Was a nightmare to service, but it's my favorite card because of how ridiculous it was at the time (2008). It stayed relevant for the next 5 years or so, it was so powerful. Unfortunately the cooler design isn't that great, so normal temps for the card were mid 90c under load.

My fondest memory of the cards that I loved best is that of the 128MB Connect 3d 9700Pro and the 256MB Hercules 9800 Pro, these card really reeled me into the world of awesome gaming at 1024x768, with AA and AF enabled I might add.😉  Of course, I do love my Nitro+ RX 6900 XT and Vega 64 Red Devil (and the Leadtek GTX 1080 Hurricane) I have now, but the 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro were the cards that truly started me on this gaming journey.

Honestly, I have owned cards throughout the spectrum.. the best cards to own are flagship cards if you are into longevity. Sure you could get by with a midrange card right now, but in the future your investment comes to fruition when guys running lower cards are forced to make due or upgrade while you may have to turn one or two things down. Although right now RTX wrecks that train of thought.

Wish I could get my hands on a Sapphire 4850x2. Made the mistake of selling it years ago.

Probably not great for gaming today, but was one of my all time favorite cards ever.

If someone has this card, PM me please. I'd be keen to purchase it!

The boxes and art work of gpus back then were far more interesting than those of today.

Nice pics! I bet they may be some who'd be surprised to see an XFX box with 'GeForce' on it seeing that XFX is now AMD only.

I'd say they were kinda childish. Those were like the teenage years of gpu marketing and now we've matured.

My first 2 video cards were All in Wonder Radeons. I loved them for turning my PC into my central home entertainment device.

Right now I love my RTX 3090 for finally letting me do 4K120 with Gsync on my OLED TV.

Well back then a teenager could afford and buy a gpu.  Today you have to skip a mortgage payment to buy one.  🤣🤣
