What song are you listening to right now.

Its not AI hating, its that Freddie nor his estate gave anyone permission to marionet his dead body.

Normally I dont care about peoples arguments about the dead, as they are dead and have no say in the mater. But with AI you are not doing something actually productive with it that you cant do with someone... living.

As a far a I know, you can't charge someone a crime of digging up dead bodies for using AI.

You're saying it's not productive. I beg to differ. It's creating entertainment.

Of course people could do it with someone living, you can find someone with similar vocal to make an cover. But I'm interested enough to find out what it might sound like, but not interested enough to hire someone to it.

Ai is interesting but usually dead people pass on and we move on.

That feels more right because we say rest in peace.

So we rather have someone who's alive and doesn't care if there's ai songs existing.

I'm jank tinkerer if it works then it works.

Regardless of compatibility 🐧🖖

I would not be so quick with that first statement. A persons likeness is owned by that person. Freddie's likeness isn't public domain yet. Things do get murky with public figures, but for artists like actors or flamboyant musical personas, your likeness is part of your whole body of work. If someone wants to take down an AI of their own voice that they did not authorize, they have the legal ability to.

You can create entertainment by making your own cover with your own voice. Or an AI voice you have permission to use.

(I'm not touching the moral, political, legal, or societal implications this technology exposes us to.)

The voice sounds mostly passable, but the overall effect sounds like him trying to sing like Idina Menzel. Shoving "Frozen - Let It Go.mp3" through a machine learning voice changer set to "Freddie Mercury" doesn't magically turn it into a Freddie Mercury recording. With today's technology, the source always shines through.

Voice replacement works best when there's a source recording that tries to copy the target's speech patterns and inflection, like these:

Considering Freddy Mercurys' voice is/was a one of a kind and instantly recognizable, that sounds exactly like what someone did.

Just wanted to share this playlist I’ve made, which consists of some atypical organ music, since it’s not written for the organ, but still sounds incredible.

The sheet music for music not originally written for organ is very hard to find, free or paid, but there is sheet music for most of the music on this playlist.

I play the organ myself for a living, but even if you don’t, or just enjoy listening to organ music, then this playlist is definately very interesting.

Hope somebody will get some use out of it, listening to it, sharing it with friends of family who play music/the organ, or play it yourself, and spread the word of film music, symphonic music, and kids songs on the organ, which is very underrated and a very rare thing.

This is my favorite version of Unravel i've heard so far. Never really liked the original OP, to loud and artificial.

But this cover is so beautiful, with just the piano, and the girl singing with her angelic voice, and her incredible Touka cosplay

Please check it out and share it, since most Anime fans have never seen this:

I really want to make a thread about this, but I think I'll get more feedback here first.  Does anyone here play music locally via VLC?

If you go into VLC advanced settings, (even on android and hopefully iOS) disable time stretching.  Then, drop the speed of locally played songs.  Anyone else try this?

Artists like Pretty Lights mix in song samples with different pitches, so you can slow down the speed and here closer to original recording of that artists voice.  Sometimes the whole sample throughout the song is down pitched, and speeding it up can reveal a more familiar sound.  Is this something more uncomomn or is this a fun thing that hundreds of millions of people do on the reg?  There's quite a lot a music that still sounds similar at a lower pitch.  The key is finding a speed that is a very similar multiple of the beats per minute.  This way, it's the same multiple of tempo, but slower.  Music using mostly quite high pitch guitar notes works incredibly, or, if you want to increase the heaviness of the bass notes, and make them even stronger it is quite pleasant.

How bad is e-waste?  Listen to that Joe Rogan episode.

Windows 11 will just force business to "recycle" "obscolete" hardware.  Microsoft definitely isn't bothered by this at all, and seems to want hardware produced just a few years ago to be considered obsolete.  They have also not shown any interest nor has any other company in a similar financial position, to help increase tech recycling whatsoever.  Windows 12 might be cloud-based and be a monthly or yearly fee.

F-droid is a place to install open-source software for android, Antennapod, RethinkDNS, Fennec which is Firefox with about:config, lots of performance and other changes available, mozilla KB has a huge database of what most of the settings do.  Most software in the repository only requires Android 5 and 6!

I recommend firewall apps (blocks apps) and dns filters (redirect all dns requests on android, to your choice of dns, even if overridden).  RethinkDNS is my pick and I set it to use pi-hole, installed inside Ubuntu/Debian, which is inside Virtualbox, until I go to a website, nothing at all connects to any other server.  I also use NextDNS.io to do the same when away from home wi-fi or even cellular!  I can even tether from cellular to any device sharing via wi-fi, and block anything with dns set to NextDNS, regardless if the device allows changing dns.  This style of network filtration is being overridden by software updates on some devices, forcing a backup dns provuder, such as google dns, when built in dns requests are not connecting.  Without a complete firewall setup, dns redirection itself is no longer always effective.

I do this to with some of my Mega Drive soundtracks.  I don't disable the time stretching though.  I do it because I'm from the UK and a few of those tracks are usually played a bit slower on PAL machines.  A great example of this is the theme for Starlight Zone from Sonic 1.  It actually sounds better at the slower pace.
