how to know which memory is used in your ram?

no pattern at all?
( like this guy said here https://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/285961-samsung-b-die-memory )
like i once read here on ltt forum that some particular speed or something later u can be sure most of time the used in in your ram is b-die of samsung?

Yes there are timings so tight that it can only be achieved regularly using Samsung B-die, and also Crucial kits using Micron stuff because Crucial is under Micron. Otherwise there's no pattern at all.

p.s. unless it's Corsair, their sticks have "rev.X.X" that is directly related to what the stick is made of. Unfortunately you dont get to choose the rev delivered to you, so it's only good for checking what's under the heat spreader without taking it off.

three big manufactures of of RAM memory are samsung,sk hynix and micron right?

how would i as consumer would know which company's memory is being used in the ram module i bought?

Also how do you figure out which company's memory is being used in ur ram modules?

thank you,
yours faithfully orian pax.

You can read the metadata found on the RAM's SPD, this can be easily done with thaiphoon burner.

Correct

If it's installed in your system, you can read out the SPD data in different programs.

If the memory is not installed, it's anyone's guess what you got. Only with Crucial is where you can be relatively sure of the manufacturer (because they fall under Micron).

No sure-fire way to know before buying, especially considering that brands of RAM modules are likely to chop and change between manufacturers sometimes.

That said, you don't really gain anything from knowing; all of the manufacturers are perfectly capable of churning out memory which is either bad or good.

If you want to be absolutely sure of which manufacturer you're getting, though, I would have thought buying Crucial is pretty much guaranteed to get you Micron chips.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Those have nothing to do with the specific RAM modules inside a RAM stick. but are rather the model number for specific RAM sticks/kits that they've validated for that board.

@igormp SPD is not always right, thaiphoon burner does not always recognize those of new kits either.

Different dies can be used on the same model of memory kit, the QVL only represents the test unit.

So yeah in general, the only way to be certain is to take the heatsink off and read the markings on the memory dies.

But it's the best one can have, other than taking the heat spreader out and seeing if a proper part number is written (as you said).

Just as an example, the SPD for my ram kit is almost empty, so there's not much I can do other than guess 🤷‍♂️

hm i would like to confirm one thing that column .... that chip column(6th column) does tell which brand's memory chip is used right?
(yes i know which die is used also matters)

Yes but only for the kit used for testing. It's totally possible that there will be different brands of memory chip on the same model of memory kit in the market.

IMO the pattern in general is, that the B die can be found, but costs premium.

Just have to look at 3600Mhz+ RAM that is for instance on the site you mentioned - https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/

I'd double-check with google if the given rev. of  the sticks is B die 100%

I edit my posts more often than not

damn it and here i was thinking g.skill was better than corsair (context - ryzen only) seems like each company has there pros and cons.
g.skill:  just put any ram stick and it will work most of times with least amount of hardwork (yes linus said this about g.skill in his video and that's why i was considering it to begin with)
corsair: we got the revision numbers!

anyway like always thanks for your input ppl. good night i will more questions for later day,

Yeah, rev 4.49

I've seen places speculating about it being either A-die or M-die, but no confirmation.

i see, btw do you have something to add to this topic? (anything will work the more info the better! i know have marked it as solved but i am still craving for more info.)

i mean i am also trying to find people like
1) psu johnny guru and many many forums, RAISON.
2) cpu/gpu/chasis/aio the usual guys (ltt,gn,hu,ph excellent! ,j2cents and a few more)

2.1) fans - well right now i can remember optimum tech only.

3) ram - for ram i could not find anyone yet, do you know anyone?

4) motherboard - buildzoid, new ltt nerd videos (hope they make more of em), gn + buildzoid, RAISON.
5) hdd,ssd - ltt forum and yt channels

6) recently i came across people who teach how to get stuff from scrapyards and even how to bargain (bcuz i just got into data hoarding stuff, homelabs and all).

7) networking is something i haven't gotten into, yet, do you know anyone who post stuff like the people i mentioned above for networking?
