OLD Gpus skyrocketing in prices too!

I'm unsure if this is the case for everyone (as in, every country).

But here, in Hungary, Older gpus (GTX) are doubling in price!

I bought about one year ago a gtx 1070 for 70 000 HUF (about 230 Dollars) and now many people are selling at 130/140 000 HUF! (around 450 dollars)

I sold a 1050 ti also around a year go, for 30 000 HUF (100 dollars) and most are going at 50 000 HUF! (160 dollars)

Anyone else seeing huge boosts in prices?

Yep - used GPU prices are doubled or tripled basically everywhere.

For reference, I sold a GTX 750 2GB for $56.

I made $49 off of it after shipping.

Last year, I would have been lucky to get $25.

Man I bought my GTX 1070 Gaming X for the same costs as that 1050 Ti...the market is crazy.

You have to shell out over $100 to get a used GTX 960 around here. 8 months ago, I could get a 4GB RX 480 for that much. Law of supply and demand. The demand on RTX and RX 6XXX cards has soared and far outpaces production capacity, so the supply's not there. People want to buy something, so that backs them down to old stuff, stuff dating back to 2014. The demand for those cards has outpaced what people are willing to sell--says the guy who's stubbornly holding onto a GTX 960 for sentimental reasons--so the price for those gets stupid too.

yes but, there's a lot of supply for older cards (since they have been out for a long time) and if most people already have those cards, how are the prices rising THAT MUCH?!

if it was at most 20% more expensive, i'd get it, but almost 100% if not more?

Sure, that doesnt mean ALL old graphics cards are still relevant. People are stuck at home and want to play games, or miners want to mine as much as possible. If the price of new cars goes up, so will the second hand prices. Supply and demand.

Yeah, right "few". Everyone can mine, its not like its illuminati going after graphics cards. If this was only done by "few" people we wouldnt have this pricing in our hands.

haha what i meant is that, the average pc user doesn't mine, and i'd say the average GPU owner (at least in "western" countries) isn't a miner either.

so "a few" is maybe more "uncommon".

I know like 15 people IRL with Computers with decent GPUs, and none of them mines or has ever mined

Right now? If you're not mining, you should be.

I would if I could (my GTX 650 Ti BOOSTs don't support mining last I checked because 2GB VRAM).

Wonder if I should sell my 960. Not as though I use my desktop much tbh.

We have been lucky locally here in Thailand, I have been getting GPUS and MB for the same wholesale prices. I just bought 3090 RTX units for, 4 units for $1400 USD each.
