Been looking everywhere - infinite budget, and still can't find wireless earbuds that...

kingpeuche

- Have active and passive noise cancelation.

- 9+ battery off a single charge.

- Be able to increase / decrease volume, or pause and play from either of the buds. No increase on right and decrease on left, that won't fly - I need to be able to adjust or pause using ONLY one bud.

Many buds have all but one of these features and it is frigging frustrating. I just want one that checks all these ticks.

(Added context, no need to read)

For context, I'm a worker who is forgetful. Sometimes I will forget to charge during my break, and so 9hr + charge off a single charge is a big help. Also, the workplace is loud as heck on certain days, and a lot of coworkers pop by here and there, and so there are many times I only want to use only one ear bud so that I can be attentive and respectful. Hence my need for noise cancelation, and my need to be able to fully control from a single bud. Some days I work with a really noisy machine and so I need good noise canceling for legitimate long term safety concerns.

Thank you for reading! I really hope to find what I need.. I've looked for buds from 20$ to 400$ and cannot find what I'm looking for.

What I used to do when I still ran equipment here at the mine was a wired earbud under an ear muff. Even with "noise cancelling" ear buds I'd still get pains in my ears from the noises. Granted we get up to 115 dB around some of the stuff at work.

@kingpeucheThe amount of time you want it to go for with active noise cancelling will make this really hard. Is there a reason why a good fitting ear bud wouldn't work here with ear muffs over when you're near equipment? I'd look into your company's PPE policy. Ear buds more than likely don't count as ear pro..

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

as a person who used to work in very noisy environments ANC honestly wont help you too much anc will only cancel out long droning sounds you want something with very good seal like earmuffs or in ears with triple flange tips or foam tips. I know co workers who work in the noisy places in my lab use these guys https://www.amazon.ca/ISOtunes-Headphones-Durability-Cancelling-Professional/dp/B081K6KPS2/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=Bluetooth+Hearing+Protection&qid=1614714413&sr=8-8

some use these TWS models https://www.amazon.ca/ISOtunes-Reduction-Compliant-Bluetooth-Protector/dp/B07Z4556P9/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=Bluetooth+Hearing+Protection&qid=1614714413&sr=8-13

but most seem to prefer the wired model cause if they need to talk to each other they just take one bud out and drop it and not have to worry about holding it . I genuinely wont reccomend using consumer products as hearing protection and would much rather recommend something made for your use case for safety reasons

The noise itself isn't loud enough to be dangerous (verified and checked according to standards). However, the loudness at which I'll be playing my audio - in order to mask the background noise and understand it properly - may be at dangerous levels if the noise cancelation isn't effective enough.

I would prefer not to use earmuffs for convenience sake, a lot of the times during the day I leave the machine to do other important things around coworkers, and so taking the muffs off and on again would be slightly cumbersome. Also, even at the machine, people come to see me frequently. Really, it's possible to do this with earmuffs, however I really want to get the purchase right and not regret anything the first time.

(For extra information - the sound is coming from a sand blast machine.)

Easy. Just get two pairs of the same earbuds. When one is drained, just switch to the other pair.

BTW: If you want to listen to music while working on a loud machine, you will most likely crank up the volume of your earbuds to a harmful level. Background noise will completely mess up your perception of the actual SPL. A sand blaster will be roundabout 110 dB(A) without protection and roughly 85 dB(A) with protection. To enjoy music you need at least 10 dB of SNR which gets your earbuds to be around the 95 dB(A) mark. That's basically a no-go.

Just to be clear: this table shows the daily amount for a given SPL. 97 dB(A) for 30 minutes basically means no other noise for the rest of the day. Your ears need time to recover and any more noise is added up (it's quite complicated, the equivalent SPL is called Leq).

Sorry, I've read over this part. Everything beyond normal conversation volume is too loud eventually. Exposure to sound should be minimized throughout the day. If it's not considered dangerous according to standards, it might still be dangerous. It's generally an unsafe practice to dry out noise with some other more convenient noise. You are less likely to react to dangerous things around you and your ears will be strained more than necessary.

It's fine. I'm not sure how loud exactly "acceptable according to standards" is in DB.

However, thinking back at it - it probably is at the threshold considering how loud it is. Your post is making me fantasize about having proper noise canceling earphones. Imagining a world with peace while I listen to my podcasts is making me think that earplug-buds might be the best bet.

Rice Guru posted some earphones that lower dbs by approximately 25.  One is not true wireless however, and the other one doesn't seem to have the perfect battery life. However, they are interesting me now as they offer a lot.

This worries me.

Headphones are not a replacement for hearing protection.
https://entinstitute.com/noise-canceling-hearing-protection-does-it-really-exist/

Active noise cancelling plays the same noise as the environment just at a opposite phase. Imagine the pressure that creates when used to stop heavy machinery.

get propper hearing protection. 3M makes really good over ear protection which very good isolation numbers some models into the 30dB in reductions.

In Europe and the USA and many other countries it is a legal requirement to provide hearing protection.
