Mediocre question about my laptop's refresh rate

I have a 144 Hz screen on my laptop (asus tuf a15) and it always says 144 hz on any refresh rate testing website i go to, ex. UFO refresh rate test. A couple of days ago, my laptop randomly crashed and then everything was back to normal as I restarted my laptop. Couple days later, I went to the refresh rate testing websites, because ocd. This time, it showed 141 Hz, fixed. I have a ryzen 7 4800H and a 1650 ti, and the cpu is used for display(it has integrated graphics). So, I redownloaded AMD drivers, and everything was back to normal.

I just want to know what could have happened that caused my refresh rate to drop by 3 Hz(doesn't really affect me, but wanna know the technicality behind it). Was it somehow linked to the random crashing? I tried restarting my laptop as well, but only redownloading the drivers was able to fix it.

Software drivers can do strange things without any real reason. Since the crash corresponded to the issue starting I'd say something got screwed up with the graphics driver. This is supported by the fact that re-installing them fixed it.

 

That's why for most any graphics issues my first suggestion is always a clean installation of the drivers. More often than not this will resolve the problem.

There's so many variables to pinpoint exactly what caused it may take a very long time to diagnose. Generally if you have the means to fix it and it works how you want I would call it good. You won't notice 3Hz and it's almost negligible in terms of error for a browser based benchmark
