What motherboard, CPU, etc.? Helps to include this so other can google an image to better assist.

Are you talking about the screws on the AMD CPU cooler? They might be captive screws which is why they will completely unscrew but not come completely off. I would make sure all 4 screws are completely unscrewed and then just lift the cooler off the mobo.

You should be able to unscrew those 4 silver screws around the socket and the brackets come off.

This may help?

This guy shows more of removing the brackets on an AMD motherboard

Geeze man, put some muscle into it. If the screw driver bit fits properly, it's just the forearm needs to work out more.

Try harder.

Need a proper bit. Don't want to mess them up.

They are tight. They break free all at once. Then turn easily out.

14..

I'm sorry, was just throwing shade at my friend there lol.

I know sometimes it feels like you might break something, and that apprehension sucks.

Watch the videos again and make sure your bit fits well, it makes a difference for sure.

No I told the 11 year old.... or perhaps a 30 year old that may read this thread...... nothing more than.... the truth.

For you, it was just sarcasm, because you already knew the answer.

Do you know if your motherboard box has a sticker for "ryzen 3000 ready" on it?
