You just need one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_atf_aps_sr_pg1_1?ie=UTF8&adId=A08546583ECL7DPYATRBH&url=%2FLeHang-Splitter-Magnetic-standoff-connector%2Fdp%2FB07RPPTCN7%2Fref%3Dsr_1_2_sspa%3Fdchild%3D1%26keywords%3D4%2Bpin%2Bpwm%2B4%26qid%3D1613099668%26sr%3D8-2-spons%26psc%3D1&qualifier=1613099668&id=1154896130596419&widgetName=sp_atf

Or if you plan to run them at different RPMs then get 3-4 x 4-pin versions and you'll be fine.

If you want to plug each one into the mobo, don't exceed 3 fans per header.

ok so i need some guidance. i have an asus CH7 hero, inside a phanteks entho primo case. i have 12 case fans.
oh if it matters my aio is connected to the aio pump header. i am also using both the 4pin & the 8 pin for 12 volt since my psu 1000 watt seasonic gold has the cables to do so.
6 fans for the aio for push/pull
2 front case fans for intake
1 bottom fan for intake
2 rear fans for exhaust
and lastly one fan blowing over my SSD since my SSD sits behind the mobo tray and i wanted some extra airflow.
im trying to figure out how to mount all 12 case fans since i only have 5 fan headers, now i know i can use splitters but can i really use 4pin pwm splitters with 3 fans per splitter on each header im confused thanks for your time
also i dont wanna use molex adapters if possible as i need the molex plugs for other things in the case

splitters are cheaper than a fan hub hence why i use splitters

You actually have 6 fan headers, if we including the H_AMP header, which is a higher amperage fan header (2A max, instead of 1A max). Still Q Fan controlled, so can be used as normal, just have to readjust the fan curve a bit.

H_AMP is 3 in the picture you showed.

The fan headers - except for H_AMP which does 2A - can do 1 ampere each. It's just about checking how much power the fans need, to see if a Y-splitter to 3 fans is fine.

In my experience, fans use anywhere between 0.1A and 0.3/0.4A, it really depends.

Yes you can run 3 fans at 100% from a single header without issue. I wouldn't push it past that tho

I've burned out fan headers from having 4 connected. 3 is now my absolute limit if they're 12V, 4 pin PWM.

SETUP:

  • Ryzen 9 3900XT @ 4.3 all core (peak core voltage 1.3)  (water)
  • 2x8GB TeamGroup 8Pack Ripped Edition 3600mhz CL14
  • RTX 2080ti OCd @ +150 core, +1000 memory (water)
  • Aorus B550 Elite (rev1)

Personal Bests:

  • Cinebench R15: 1785  1883 (Aug 2020)
  • Cinebench R20: 4136  4243 7125 7550 (Feb 2021)
  • 3DMark/Time Spy: 10,238 13,106 13,993 14,149 15,295 (Feb 2021)

I use only 1 fan per header. Delta1212SHE (1.6a) and on the rear EFC0912BF (0.6a) Case Silverstone TJ07

They move a considerable amount of air, even when idle 🙂

Your 6 fans of AIO will translate to I don’t know how much actual airflow but probably not a lot. 1? 1.5?  I dunno.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Yikes, thanks for the heads up! By some random miracle I've only ever been able to get the 3-ways shipped to me so I haven't killed any headers yet 😅

One thing to note is that the more fans on a header the slower they'll all go (but not by a lot)

I use a Commander Pro, personally. Easier to hide cables for 13 fans lol. and I've not noticed any issues with running at stable (and high) RPMs. I need to buy a second one to go down to 2 fans per header.

SETUP:

  • Ryzen 9 3900XT @ 4.3 all core (peak core voltage 1.3)  (water)
  • 2x8GB TeamGroup 8Pack Ripped Edition 3600mhz CL14

Ah, my use case is dedicated crypto machines so a controller, albeit quite handy, would be a little wasteful for me

Out of curiosity, who's your favorite fan manufacturer?

My sisters favorite joke in junior high was likes that.  She would say “ask me if I’m orange” to which one would gamely reply “O.K.  Are you orange?” To which she would reply “no”. And laugh uproariously.

My understanding is noctua wins raw performance.  Price performance perhaps not so much.

I disagree.

If you remove the stuff like RGB from the equation then Noctua wins every race from performance to optimisation to silence.

You're looking at approx £18 per fan (unless you go ultra premium NF-A12x25 hybrid airflow/pressure fans).

The average cost of a budget PWM fan is at least £10.

So for 80% extra you get the silence (if you value it) and you get far better performance, directly related to PC performance).

Their CPU coolers are also fairly priced. There isn't as much a 'Noctua tax' as there is a 'Corsair tax' and you're definitely paying for the premium product, and once you have over 10 fans like me, I've paid over £100 extra than budget fans. But if you're at that point, price and sensibility are out the window. If you're replacing 3-4 fans in a case. You're paying an extra £30-ish for the performance increase.

Gamers Nexus has documentation on testing some stuff like this. So is it worth that trade off? For low budget builders? Maybe not. For high/ultra end stuff? Absolutely.
