Up until last month; the 1366 masterrace was (and is) going strong for me. Got myself one of them fancy pants new Ryzens now tho.

Lisa Su would be proud 😄

Seriously though, Ryzens are pretty amazing chips and I bet you saw a pretty gigantic jump in performance after the upgrade?

Honestly?

I've not seen that much of an improvment. Little things here and there like being able to scrub through AE timelines smoothly and extract things slightly faster are pretty great. I reckon most of my noticable gains have come from moving from an a mixed sata2 and 3 board to pure NVME. I can run Minecraft at 60fps now with shaders, which is pretty great. The ram boost has been quite nice, 24 was getting a little restrictive; 64 opens up some room to grow. I do enjoy watching the CPU cores tick away in Task Manager tho.

I still use my main rig which has FX-4300, 8GB DDR3 memory and R7 260X, bought it back in 2015(or smth like that). So yeah it's getting pretty old lol, but it still works fine for me, I don't game that much anymore, but I plan to upgrade it this year(hopefully the GPU shortage will be gone by then lol).

2012 Lenovo T430 w/ i7-3820QM. Made a few mods myself and added 16GB of memory and 1.5TB of SSD storage. Still going strong! Applied fresh thermal goop two years ago. I'll probably consider replacing it late next year once it celebrates its 10th birthday.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy

I'll be replacing mine as soon as sanity returns to the market.  I've just switched off re: all this..  especially GPUs.  I don't even watch videos about it anymore. What's the point in watching something about something you can't buy unless you are prepared to bend over and get shafted by paying 2x MSRP?  Nuts to that!  Scalpers will find something else to bot buy soon enough.

My main PC I bought brand new in May 2012 as a pre-built Acer Aspire M1930 with Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz, 4GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, AMD Radeon HD7470 4GB and 1TB Seagate HDD. Over the years I've upgraded it (last upgrade was adding an SSD in September 2018, that SSD I bought in November 2016 and used in two laptops before putting in here). All of the original hardware I still have - the motherboard, CPU cooler, two SATA cables and DVD drive are still in my main PC, while the case and RAM are in my secondary PC (which currently does not work, haven't had time to troubleshoot it yet). The HDD I use as a back-up drive now, I changed it with a WD Blue 1TB HDD when I added the SSD. All of the up-to-date specs of my PCs are in my signature.

My dad/sister use a PC that's around 9 years old. It has an i5-2320, 4x2GB DDR3 RAM, and a GT 610 graphics card, although originally it only had integrated graphics. For storage, it has a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. It's really slow in terms of disc access, but gaming-wise it kind of handles it. Around 50-60 FPS in Minecraft, around 20 FPS in Civilization 6.

Up until around 2017 I used a laptop from 2010. It had an AMD Athlon II P320, 2x2GB DDR3 RAM, a 320GB 5400 RPM hard drive, and ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 graphics. It gets around 15-20 FPS in Minecraft. It gets super hot with an average temperature of 90° under load, but no thermal throttling. Battery lasts less than an hour.

Laptop specs:

  • Intel Core i7-7500U
  • 1x8GB DDR4-2133 RAM
  • 2TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Intel HD Graphics 620

As the title suggests, I'm just wondering what is the oldest machine out there on these forums that is still the main machine in the house?  I ask because I'm still rocking a Sandybridge extreme 3960X on a ROG Rampage IV Extreme MoBo.  I slapped in a GTX980 around 5 years ago, but not done anything since.  It's almost 11 years old now and still my main rig.  As you gathered already, I don't play what you would call AAA titles...   mainly Elite Dangerous, so I still get 60fps or more.  I was going build a new machine this year, but seeing as I'd need to sell a kidney to get a GPU, I'm stuck with it for a little longer. I was going to slap a 1080 in it to stretch it a little further, but even THOSE are $400 on Ebay, so here I am...

I gotta say though.  When I built this, I had the usual "What do you need that for??  It's just e-peen" comments, but sure...  11 years later it's still rocking.  Always build crazy fast machines...  they have the legs to last.

What you rocking still?  Anyone using anything older?

My mom uses like a 2010 MacBook Air I think (at least that’s what I think, I remember it’s like the oldest laptop in our house, but I forget the exact year)

Dell PowerEdge R710 ,  2x Xeon X5680 I somehow got stuck @ 4.1ghz using some random Xeon cock program from a sketchy site,  270 GB Ram,  4 DP RX560 (AMD Eyefinity),  6X 5TB (30TB) SAS, 4x NEC x463un "military grade" 1080p TVs labeled "Fort Bragg"

Server was $75, tvs where $15 per, AMD GPU was overpriced at $210. I made the stand from 2x4,2x6 scrap

My dad's Phenom II x4 965, RX580 (after his 6770 died), and RAID 0? 320GB HDDs is the oldest daily by a conventional sense, but I tend to use the system in my signature fairly regularly so I'll give that one the crown by technicality.

So dual P3's. Nice.
