64GB RAM at 3200 or 3600 with Ryzen

Hello there,
looking to upgrade my ram as 16gb is starting to limit me. (I'm on mITX so I cant just put 2 extra stick in there.)

So, is it worth getting 3600 (cl18) at 240£ or 3200 (cl16) at 154£?
Cheapest 32gb kit is also 150£.

Ryzen 3000? or 5000? or in the unlikely event, 4000 pro?
Personally I'm quite happy with 32gb of 3600 but if you want 64gb you may want to keep it closer to 3200 and you may have issues getting that stable as well since it will likely be 4 ranks per channel and not all ryzen memory controllers can handle that at high speeds

Right now Im on 3700x with GB B550i AX. Plan on getting a 5900x hopefully in a few months.

Ryzen with 3600Mhz memory is generally observably faster than with 3200Mhz, but whether it's 100 quid faster is up to you. Also the potential stability issues that Arrogath mentioned are worth considering. I'd steer you towards the 3200 unless you absolutely must have the best

Get the 3200MHz kit and OC it.

You will most likely have difficulty running XMP at 3600MHz without having to manualy set some things in BIOS because 64GB at that speed puts a lot of stress on the memory controller.

I already had difficulty runing 64GB 3200MHzCL16 on my 3900X out of the box but after tinkering I got it to run 3800MHzCL16 just fine. The issues you will have to deal with if they occur are mostly the same thing you will have to deal with when OCing by yourself so you may as well just save some money and do it yourself.

What do you plan to do with 64 gb of ram? Almost nobody needs that, unless you have workloads that love hogging ram. I feel that 16gb limits me somewhat since I love having a million tabs and gaming at once, but 32gb is just fine for me, 64gb would be overkill. Since DDR5 support might be implemented as soon as this year in consumer chips/motherboards, "future proofing" can't really apply in any capacity. I'd go for the 32gb 3200mhz kit at cl16

Depends on the cas latency and ranks, among other things as well.

Depends on the cas latency and ranks, among other things as well. 

Simple.
I pay 150£ for the cheapest solid 32gb kit.
OR
I pay 150£ for the cheapest solid 64gb kit.

Double the capacity for the same price. The market is weird right now.

(Another reason is I play with VMs and 32gbs might limit me, and I would have to purchase the 64gb either way.)

this would be considered vital information in terms of suggestions. I would lean towards 64 gb of 3200 for sure with that in mind. You may have to just adjust SoC voltage and/or timings if you have stability issues, seems to vary by board a bit
