Could people please double-check these upgrades before I order?

Budget (including currency): 600 Euros

Country: Netherlands

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming (SWBF2, Apex, Rocket League) at 1440p 60Hz, nothing too extreme, don't need super high settings either.

Other details: I'm currently with family in the UK but will upgrade when I get back to my PC in the Netherlands. I'm upgrading an already budget PC since it needs modernizing, and my 750Ti, although old, can put out more if i upgrade my CPU first (I think it's bottlenecking my GPU) while I wait for the GPU craze to calm down. Under load my CPU is maxed out and my GPU is only 60% maxed, hence the CPU upgrade first.

So I'd like to upgrade the following parts soon:

CPU - Athlon X4 845 --> Ryzen 5 2600

CPU Cooler - Stock? --> MASTERLIQUID ML360R RGB

Motherboard - Asrock FM2A88X Pro3+ --> Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming

Case - No idea --> Lian Li PC-O11 DYNAMIC MIDI-TOWER

Case Fans - No idea --> Sharkoon SHARK Blades RGB Fan X 3

The RAM doesn't need upgrading just yet (I'm currently on DDR3 with that mbd) and I'm going to keep running my GT 750-Ti until the GPU market calms down a bit this year. I'll upgrade the PSU alongside the GPU later on.

My two main areas of concern are;

1. Will that CPU cooler fit with a top mounted position in the Lian Li? I think it will but I'd like to be sure, I've seen people say it's tricky. If not, front mounting wouldn't be an issue (I guess?).

2. Will the fans (on the CPU cooler and the 3 rgb case fans) be able to fit on the motherboard? I see the Strix B450-F only has 2 X 4-pin AURA rgb headers. I've made sure that the ML360R and the  SHARK Blades both use 4-pin headers, and I know that the ML360R comes with a hub allowing both 3-pin and 4-pin fans.

I've tried to do as much research myself but nothing replaces advice from experienced builders like those at LLT 😉 Thanks in advance people!

Ok imo your spending way too much on upgrades that don't matter (CPU Cooler, $120 case, overpriced MOBO) by cheaping out on certain things I think this would be a better upgrade.

Your motherboard supports 4 pin PWM fans. So you should pick 4 pin PWM fans.
You picked 3 pin fans.

instead of the 2600 i would go for go for something like a 3600 because its a bit newer and around the same price and with the o11 you should be ok with mounting you aio on the top because the 011 is made for water cooling and as long as you have 5 4pin headers for the five 4pin devices you have you should be fine

as mentioned, that cooler is not needed at all, getting a newer cpu and using the stock cooler for it, or use the leftover money to get a better cooler than the stock (not that it's bad it's just not really good)

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.

I see your points, the CPU cooler is overkill and saved money could be thrown into an even better processor. The MOBO; I also see your point. I will say I'm pretty set on that Lian Li case though, I'd like something I can keep for a long time and have on my desk, so I don't mind overspending on the case so much 🙂  Thanks for the reply!

Ahh I didn't see the RAM issue, thanks for highlighting that!

Some of the MSI B450 boards are worse than the one he has, which is perfectly "eh, whatever" fine middle of the road board albeit likely to be somewhat overpriced because of the Asus Strix branding tax. Certainly the B450-F is more than adequate for running a mere 2600.

Every manufacturer has better and worse models for each chipset, don't just recommend a brand.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

you're right, i was in a hurry.

msi b450m mortar max

msi b450 gaming plus

msi b450 a-pro

msi b450 tomahaw

msi b450 gaming pro carbon

but anyway, only get these if you're going for the 2600.

for the 3600 or 5600x, get a b550 board.
