How many Hz do i need?

Hello, i am gonna build a pc, but dont know many Hz i need.

Doesn't really matter. If you have a tight budget, go with 75hz. 

144Hz should be enough for everyone.

When you're playing high-level competitive, i'd invest in a decent 240Hz display.

 

When you're more of a casual gamer or often play singleplayer games, 144Hz is more than enough.

since you posted this in displays subforum i imagine you're talking about monitors.

and this depends on your pc and the games you play and the resolution,

if you wanna play single player games only in 4k i think you could stick with a 60Hz, if you play 1440 i think you'd have to go lower in graphics since a 2060s won't reach 144fps on ultra in many games.

if you are a hardcore fps player and you play games like csgo/overwatch/R6S then go for a 144Hz 1080p monitor (maybe a 240Hz if you really want to, but it's not as big of a difference between 144 and 240 so it should only be if you really want to play top tier)

yeah that what I asked in the first place, but apparently he posted it in Display. So i guess he means Monitor Hz

Higher refresh rate is better but you might lose out on other aspects.

Ideally you'll want a 144hz, which is common now.

Even if the PC probably cannot reach it, it's a good investment.

yes but as someone who has 60/144/240Hz monitors it is noticable but it doesn't feel twice as fast as 144Hz

yeah it is not twice, because it is 1.6x difference

144 + 144 = 288

240 / 144 = 1.666

yes ofc, but it does't feel like it's 1.66x faster than the 144

How much you NEED ?  At least 24 Hz , anything less and you wouldn't be able to watch movies. 

 

What's the LEAST you should get?  60 Hz, because it's the standard minimum refresh rate. 

 

How much should you DESIRE / WANT?   75 Hz Freesync models should be about as cheap as 60 Hz monitors, 100-120 Hz would be just a bit more expensive, 144 Hz are common.

 

Anything above 144 Hz gives you diminishing returns,  and monitors will be either very expensive or they'll cut corners to keep the price down resulting in low color accuracy.

 

What you get depends on your BUDGET.  It would be kinda pointless to spend 100$ more on a 144 Hz monitor, when you'll have to buy a system with a video card that can barely do 60 fps - put that money on the video card and scale down to a 75-100-120 Hz monitor and you'll get an overall better experience.

depends on your hardware, GPU and all that to the games you play.

If you play CS:GO etc, more FPS and HZ is good.

144 or so, is a good mark and if your GPU can handle +100 fps to make use of those high refresh screens.

240 is not really worth it, resolution might, but will again be harder to run and not make use of those high refresh screens.

so it depends on your system, but for most games around 144 Hz is a good mark, then resolution (unless you have bad eye sight) to whatever else you need.

Some high refresh screens might not always have the best displays though, or the best overdrive settings.
