is it worth it upgrade my i7 6700 to a i5 10400 for gaming?

Clearly he is looking for a value option, not the best. A Ryzen 5 5600X is hardly a "value" CPU at $300. A more likely comparison would be a Ryzen 5 3600, but even those are going for $30 more than the i5 10400F on Amazon ($200). Also keep in mind that the Intel CPU will play a lot nicer with his DDR4-2133 than a Ryzen would, so that is another cost consideration.

Did a research from google and i found a  pcbuild website to calculate i7 6700 + rtx 2060 at 1080p bottleneck

Don't look at bottleneck calculators. They are completely useless and I have no idea why they exist whatsoever. For 1080p, you have a nice CPU/GPU combo. The 4c/8t might limit you in more open world games but only about as much as the 2060 would anyway.

Cheers.

Im getting 15% bottleneck from pc build with my RTX 2060 + i7 6700

I like to play 1080p - 144fps high settings

it's time to upgrade to an i5 10400?

You could go for a 9th gen i7, they are still very good CPUs for gaming and wouldn’t have any issues with bottlenecking a 2060

i7 9700 is about $329

i5 10400 is about $170

acording to cpuserbenchmark

i5 10400 is slighty better than an i7 9700

there shoudl be no bottleneck with 6700 and rtx 2060. to answer your question 10400 will be better if you play at 1080p. I would go for AMD at this point.

please for the love of god stop using 'bottleneck calculators'

here's how to decide if it's time to upgrade your cpu:

- are your games reaching the framerates you're hoping to get? => dont upgrade.

- is your cpu usage very high in games (>80% on all cores the game is utilizing), and gpu usage not at 100%? => upgrade.

bro that cpu is out of stock from almost any official website thanks to scalpers, and I just want to spend no more than $350 cpu + motherboard that why I was planning to buy an i5 10400

ryzen 5600x + motheboard it probably cost more than  $500 - $530 thanks to scalpers and I just interested in gaming performance but I think Im gonna stay with the i7 6700 until 12th generetion intel.

there's no need, your 6700 is still very capable, and for the most majority of games 4C8T is enough

I upgrade my r9 nano to a RTX 2060 I forgot to upgrade my profile, thanks for the help again.

I don't support scalpers I only pay retail prices  ryzen 5 5600x is a great cpu Unfortunately, this great benefit is lost with the price increase of the scalpers, I will wait more with this cpu (i7 6700)  that still works quite well.

Maybe it would be better to post this separately, as an i7 6700+RTX2060 user myself i can say that this combo is very well balanced, if you want more FPS then i suggest not to waste money now but, rather raise it for a new system (well more like CPU+MOBO+RAM+GPU Combo, the rest of your hardware is fine).

Please do not take offence for my apparent confusion or rudeness,it's not intent me to be like that,it's just my BPD,be nice to me,and I'll return twice better,be rude and usually I get easly pissed of...I'll try to help anyone here,as long as it's something I dealt with, and even if you think I'm rude or not polite, forgive me,  it's not me it's my BPD.

So please explain me how did you manage to find you have bottleneck.

Did a research from google and i found a  pcbuild website to calculate i7 6700 + rtx 2060 at 1080p bottleneck

https://pc-builds.com/calculator/Core_i7-6700/GeForce_RTX_2060/0FU137lu/#:~:text=Intel Core i7-6700 (Clock,10% is considered as bottleneck.

also I did a research on youtube I saw that i5 10400f (slightly less performance against a regular i5 10400) got better performance in almost any game against i7 6700k around 20-30fps more so i tought It would be more difference with my cpu in performance  i7 6700 not "k"

the reason I was planing to upgrade is because I found a great price i5 10400 + b460m motherboard for only $270.
