IPS starts very dim?

Lachrymal

I've noticed since I have adjusted the brightness on my screen to something less than "vegas show", it actually turns on/ wakes very dimly at first. Maybe after a minute it becomes viewable. Do all IPS monitors do this?? Is this some kind of warm up process or is something wrong?

Hmm, haven't heard of that before. I'm pretty sure that's not normal.

I'm not sure to be honest... I don't think so... Most of my TN monitors are dimmer than normal at first, but then after a minute or so they get to their normal brightness.

Just to be clear, I have my monitor as bright as a sheet of paper under normal room lighting. I fear they may be power or connection issues. Because sometimes the monitor or the keyboard dont come on at all when first booting.

Have you tried connecting your PC or just plugging the monitor into a laptop and the power to the monitor somewhere else like out in your lounge room to see if it is what you suspect which is power issues?

Well, my Compaq S2022a TFT LCD is quite a bit dimmer than my Hanns-G LED screen when they're first turned on but the Compaq gets brighter after a minute or so.

CCFL backlit monitors take time to warm up.  What monitor do you have?

My Dell 2410 used to take a good 20 minute or so before it was up to normal temperature. Some monitors do take a while, CCFL based ones mostly.

Yep that one reason for screen savers especially in the crt days, keep them on but dont allow burn in.

Unfortunately, I succumbed to using a screensaver until I can figure out whats wrong. Previously, I had itself turn off after half an hour, but the slow wake is tedious.
