Trying to read and interpret the PSU Tier List

Thomas.L
Go to solution Solved by MorganO,

rm white (2015) and RM grey refer to the labels they physically have

So my setup will be an AMD 6800 XT Red Devil and a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, and I am going to need an upgrade to my PSU which is a XFX ProSeries Core Edition 750W.

And my journey led me to this page, and more specifically the big PSU Tier List (https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu-tier-list/) but I am not sure how to read it.

For example, looking into available PSUs here in Norway, I can get a Corsair RM750 (2019) (https://www.proshop.no/Stroemforsyning-PSU/Corsair-RM750-2019-Stroemforsyning-PSU-750-Watt-135-mm-80-Plus-Gold-sertifisert/2777068), but looking at the psu list it says

Corsair | AX Gold / Platinum / Titanium - RMx 2015 (White) / 2018 (White) - RM Gray - SF Gold / Platinum [2] - TX-M 2017 (Gold)

So does that mean the PSU is the one in the list or not? :)

Yes, the RM PSU you linked is the RM PSU in the tier list.

The reason the PSU is listed as "RM Gray" is because the name "RM" is re-used, as it was used for a previous series too, now known as "RM Yellow":

Furthermore, the RM gray is a good PSU, but I haven't been paying much attention to 6800XT reviews, so I can't say for 100% sure if it's the correct wattage for the system.
