Can i update my bios through a external drive instead of a flash drive ?

the drive usually has to be formatted in fat32 and typically only the USB ports on the back are recognized for flashing (sometimes only one port)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

It has the same port as a flash drive.

so it's a USB drive and not thunderbolt or anything? then it probably will work. But like I said, it has to be formatted. So if there's data, copy it off first.

maybe his drive was already fat32? it's really common for thumb drives, not necessarily as common for HDDs.

red the instructions for how to flash the BIOS of your particular motherboard. It will say one way or the other what format is needed.
