Good free video editing software

Hello,

I am looking for some good video editor to edit my gaming videos. Most good editors are very expensive. Some that i tried are lagging like anything. Please advice

 

Computer specs:-

CPU - Intel Core i7 7500U @ 2.70GHz

GPU - AMD Radeon R7 M440

RAM - 16.0GB Single-Channel @ 1064MHz (15-15-15-35)

Motherboard - Dell Inc. 05VRRG (U3E1)

I mean, you're using a laptop.. so performance isnt gonna be great as it is. Your CPU is only a 2c/4t so its going to suffer heavily video editing with just about any program.

Because it's never supported outside of very specific "desktop replacement" laptops, usually using desktop PC parts.

If you want a FOSS alternative there's kdenlive that's pretty well featured now. Probably going to be less optimized than commercial offerings though so don't expect more performance.

If you have a large SSD, you can try right clicking the file and pressing "Generate optimized media", which may take a bit depending on the footage, but will speed up playback.

 

Reason I mention a large SSD, is because these cache clips are large in size and if you use a hard drive to generatie them on, it will likely be slower than an SSD.
