Recommendations for Parts Fabricators

Allow me to recount the experiences that have led me this far:

- I've recently made quite a significant windfall
- I've decided to finally put some proper money into a computer, in the hopes of making a system that will last at least five years of mainline releases
- Part of this idea necessitates modifying the main backplate of my In-Win D-Frame Mini

The dimensions are as shown in the images -- I'm still making modifications, but these designs are mostly final. I've been in communication with a company called ProtoCase in the past, and as I recall their price for older designs similar to these was somewhere in the ballpark of $500 US. I'm assuming that's mostly machine time -- I'll need the first piece to be machined, and the second to be bent into place (I'll also need two of the second piece).

Of course, this is assuming that I even need two 360mm rads in the first place -- I am looking to overclock, though, so maybe it's a good idea... any extra advice is appreciated, but the main reason I made this post was to check if there are any metal part fab companies I could look into sending these designs. Material doesn't matter to me near as much as cost, so whether aluminum or steel is cheaper, I'll be working with the more inexpensive material.

Try looking for local sheet metal/fabrication companies some may be willing on take on one off jobs but in terms of fabrication if you wanted to even have something done yourself you can look at using a scroll saw to cut out the opening and mark the locations for drilling using a drill press. For $500 that sounds about right for a one off part that require both tool path times and machine time to laser cut and post process. 

 

If you have a university or college nearby see if they have a shop that they may be able to have students fabricate sheet metal components.
