OnePlus One to use Snapdragon 800 and 3,100mAh battery

Most companies do their best to keep upcoming smartphones a secret until the last possible minute, but OnePlus is taking a different strategy. It is explaining each important decision on its public blog as soon as possible. Most recently, the new company took to its site to reveal plans for a 3100mAh non-removable battery along with a Snapdragon 800 processor for its upcoming OnePlus One handset.

So, this phone is suppose to be priced around the same price as the Nexus 5, have similar (probably the same) specs, and a significantly larger battery? The OnePlus One is basically starting to look like the LG G2 (in terms of specs). With that being said, I personally own a G2 (which has a 3,000mAh battery) and that lasts me all day. So don't even worry about that 3,100mAh battery.

One thing I don't like about this is that the battery will be non-removable. They do have their reasons for doing this though. It's because if they made the battery removable, the actual battery size would be much smaller (around 2,500mAh), they would have to add in a protective layer on the motherboard (would probably increase the phone's price a bit), and the overall size of the phone would be much thicker. I mean, I guess it's worth it to have the bigger battery, but still though.

I don't really see why people rave about removable batteries. You're often close to an outlet. Carry a battery bank?

There's something yet unmentioned about the battery so hopefully it has faster charging or something.

Even though it's only a Snapdragon 800, it actually got a better Abuntu score than the Note 3. It's going to be a beast of a phone, way better than the Nexus.

Should also have a Sony camera module.

This and the Find 7 are going to be spectacular. Especially if the Find 7 is using the same multi shot technology as Hasselblad.

I have my phone for like 2 years and I have removed battery like 4 times, just because my sim card is blocked by it.

To me it's more about changing the battery when it gets worn out.

It barely does nowadays and phone gets so slow it's not even worth to change it.  :)

Since most smartphones now are half n" half removable and non removable I think that having a removable back cover is still needed for most smartphones like @LAwLz said if you constantly drain your battery out and it doesnt perform all day and all night its a handy thing to be able to swap it out for a new replacement

I can understand that point, but batteries last for a pretty long time these days if you treat them properly. 3+ years.

After that the device is usually pretty outdated.

If you do need the battery changed, it costs maybe $100, which is only say $40 more than it would cost to buy a replacement battery.

Not too bad, considering how few people will probably take advantage of that, let alone keep their devices that long.
