That's an M.2 - slot. There's no way of determining just from the picture if the slot supports SATA M.2 or NVMe M.2 or both, though; you'll have to either check the manual or ask Lenovo.

There's also the HDD to the right, which you can replace with regular 2.5" SATA SSD, if you wish.

alright. it's surprising that Lenovo didn't mentioned anything about extra slot. I've read on Lenovo's forums that it only reads NVMe's let's hope for a good response from Lenovo. i'll be mailing them tomorrow sometime.

btw thanks for the reply :)

That indeed is an NVMe M.2 slot. Lenovo has been supporting NVMe drives on even their low-end models for a number of years now, which is nice.

No. E.g. M - keyed M.2 - slot may or may not support SATA. The option is there, but it's still up to the mobo's manufacturer whether they do implement the support or not; I have myself a board with an M - key M.2 - slot and it does not support SATA - drives.

Check the tech spec PDF. This is the only s145 I could find, doesn't list a Ryzen 3 CPU though, would need the full model # (i.e. this is for s145-15AST) to find the proper tech spec sheet.

What you can also do is look at other configurations of your Lenovo Ideapad s145 Ryzen model and see what type of SSD is listed. They will usually differentiate between PCIe SSDs due to the increased speed and throughput. It's something OEMs love to boast about.

Lucky you actually! My ASUS Vivobook unfortunately only supports SATA M.2 SSDs. Still better being stuck with just a 2.5" drive though. 256GB SSD boot and 1TB storage on a cheap thin and light, can't really complain too much.
