When a new gen of Nvidia cards launch, do people sell their older ones for cheap?

It all depends on how good/bad the next gen of GPUs are, and what their actual price is. If the price of the new stuff is less for better performance, the old stuff will generally resale used for much less.

as other stated, it depends.

Most times people upgrading want most out of their old hardware to be able to afford the next tier.

Then you have the enthusiast who doesn't care and just has to have it. he most likely won't actually get rid of old card either and just shelve it, ya know, just incase the new one dies
