Seasonic Prime Fanless TX-600 coil whine

emrahkaracam

I'm building a pc for silence purpose. I bought the seasonic tx-600 psu a month ago on Amazon.de. PSU looked technically perfect. But it was a  disappointment. The product had a high degree of coil whine. It was easily heard in a quiet environment. This is unacceptable in such a product. So I returned the product. I'd like to try again by buying px-500 or tx-600. However, I am worried. I don't want to have the same problem again. Should I buy it again?

Is that while in standby? My RM650x has a slight whine on the standby rail (only really audible if I put my ear next to it), but when the system's actually running it makes no noise whatsoever.

Also once you've got the PSU actually installed in a system, especially considering most modern cases have PSU shrouds, which do help block off some noise along with tempered glass panels and all that, the noise won't be as noticeable.

There is always noise(idle, load, sleep and shutdown). But more when the system is running. It makes more noise than a low rpm quiet fan. I can hear from two meters in a quiet environment. In this case, no point without fan. This wouldn't be a problem with a cheap psu. But, expensive and it claims to be silent. I wouldn't want to use it even if it's free. I've used corsair rm550x and rm750x before. There is no noise.
