Depends on how well a game is coded. Some games have load times of specific lengths, but generally you will see noticeable improvements.

Really depends. Some games, like Forza Horizon 4 will see a hilarious improvement, while games like CS:GO... won't.

like MHW, i can tell when someone without SSD joins the game because the load times will be atrocious

 

but in the end, it's a luxury item

if you have a low end pc, maybe spend it on something that can boost performance before investing in SSD specifically for games

SSD for OS however, is the 1st thing on the list, no matter if it's low or high end PC

I got used to not running SSDs

Then I did.

 

Not going back... cos some games really take time with no previous run (first start of day) diskcache barely active or used so SSD cured most of that.

I think you can definitely tell the difference, especially in larger games with longer loading times. I put all the games I play regularly and my online games on a SSD and then have a HD for all the others.

As said, can depend on games. Though certain type of games, like open world and those with a lot of assets like MMO like WoW it's quite a difference. Especially with addons too.

Nowadays u should have a SSD even for just a games drive.

 

Personally, i dont use HDD's anymore. SSDs are cheap enough to just go full SSD, even if they are 'just' Sata 3 2.5" Drives. The difference between a basic DRAM cache Sata 3 2.5" SSD and a 7200RPM performance HDD is huge. No need to go full tilt and use only NVME m2 drives, while they are faster the difference isnt much so if ur on a budget just get basic 2.5" SSDs (which have a DRAM cache)

Huge. I went from a 7200rpm hdd to the sx8200 pro and what a massive difference it made. No more hitching, no more long loading times.
