(US) V-Moda LP + Boompro?

So I just realized since I'm going to be leaving for college soon and dorming, I'm gonna want a headset, but not an actual headset, as in a headphone/mic combo. I don't really want the modmic because I don't like that extra wire hanging dow. From what I've heard on some youtube videos, the Boompro by V-Moda sounds great and is a good simple way to add a mic to your headphones. But this is only if the headphones have a 3.5mm detachable cable. That being said, I've used my brothers V-Moda LP2 and they feel and sound great. Now i see the LP (not 2) sitting around $130 on amazon. I haven't looked anywhere else, but $160 for a headphone/mic combo that sound great is really good. Unless you guys know other headphones that sound better with a detachable cable for around $130

Yup, that would be a good option for a headset up. Maybe you could get an Antloin mod mic and some other headphones?

I feel like that would pick up too much surrounding noise (mx blues)

I was looking at the Boompro for the same reason, it sounds pretty good from the videos I've watched. I don't believe it's compatible with Sennheiser HD518s, so I won't be getting it unfortunately.

Yeah I was gonna get the sennheiser 518 too but I do like the vmodas a lot and anything is an upgrade from my turtlebeach x11s, especially for that price

noice, I'm pretty confident with the setup. Now do the lps have as muddy bass as people say? Because my brothers sounded great but they were the lp2

It depends on the audio file and were the audio was recorded. I have some music that has the worst bass. I just downloaded my first FLAC file and the bass was as smooth as butter. plus I was using onboard audio so you know with a good DAC these babies will sing! even when using an iphone or android, they still sound good. 

 

Edit: I like bass went it plays a roll in music. I do not consider my self a basshead by any means.
