Posted July 16, 2020 Linux has come a long way, especially in game support, but Windows is still the better platform in virtually all use-cases, especially now with WSL, which basically gives you Linux in Windows. They're working now on actually allow Linux GUI as well, which will basically obviate any reason to go pure Linux for most users. You pick Mac OS if you buy an Apple computer. Sure, there's hackintosh, but that's more novelty than actual daily driving OS. Posted July 16, 2020 I use macOS at work, Linux at home and occasionally Windows for gaming... which option do I click? Posted July 16, 2020 I technically use all 3. Windows for gaming (Don't use my gaming machine as much as I should LOL), MacOS on my laptop also as my main machine. And Linux on the Plex server. I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
Posted July 16, 2020 Wish I could use Linux...stuck with Windows because of: MS office suite, Matlab, Adobe suite (mostly PS and acrobat pro), Cinema 4D and occasional gaming. Now I know that gaming is a thing on Linux too nowadays but not everything works and that also the programs listed above ain't gonna run, I could live with their alternatives but as far as I know the graphics (design) ones areatn't gonna slide. P.S. I know about MS 365 browser version, can't use that. Also although it may seem stupid, it's annoying when I'm rocking some Linux distro and it's all cool until I go to some friend's house LAN party and everything works on Windows natively meanwhile I have to troubleshoot stuff (which I love in my spare time but not when it just has to work). Posted August 22, 2020 My main home PC is Windows. It has all the software I need (Sony Vegas, Davinci Resolv, AfterEffects, FruityLoops,) as well as all the game launchers I use for playing games im interested in without having to run Linux versions or use WINE or other workarounds to get the games working. Yes I can do these things on Linux, but the game restrictions is a big issue for me when I just want them "to work" I do run about a dozen various Linux VM's for automation, virtual desktops, scripting, plex, etc....
