GPU memory utilization problem

HELP!, my laptop's GPU (940MX) even when running a stress test (Furmark) wont use pass 5% of its 2GB of video memory. whats the problem here guys

That Memory Used monitor might be 'System' RAM...

seems liek false reading in gpu z. try with msi afterburner. You would notice if apps would use under 100mb of video memory.

Furmark is not vram intensive thats why.

so ill run furmark and monitor it in msi afterburner?

Because there's nothing to really load into the VRAM, except for a very basic/small texture.

The monitor label doesn't specify VRAM or System RAM, irrespective of it bring with GPU-Z...

GPUZ specifies RAM usage as "System Memory Used", it always have. Considering app is literally aimed for GFX cards it wouldnt make any sense to label it Graphics memory usage. I have no clue what you are rambling about.

OP, use something like 3dmark11 or unigine benchmark to test your vrams.

That reply was to explicitly for who I quoted...

 

Seemingly, FurMark uses so little graphics RAM to store the textures for the test that it may look like the graphic card has a problem; it doesn't... it's testing the graphics processor.

i've tried msi after burner and it still says 90mb of vram is only used wtfffff

Try disabling iGPU maybe?

Monitor your VRAM usage with anything but furmark. Even task manager would tell you that you arent using more than 100-200mbs of vram.

try running heaven benchmark. it uses much more vram. furmark dfoesnt use that much vram
