Connecting 5.1 surround sound speakers to PC

ewi_1230

I was recently gifted an amazing set of Klipsch desk speakers. The only problem is that they only have speaker wire inputs. I am new to the audio space and cannot figure out how I would get this hooked up to the IO on my motherboard.

I have a Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM motherboard. The motherboard has three audio ports on it. One is blue. One is green. And one is pink. The manual says that the blue would be for front speakers, green for rear, and pink for bass/center.

I have absolutely no idea where to start with this. Google has not yielded great results. I probably just don't know what to search for. What sort of cables do I need for my motherboard? Do I need a receiver of some kind? Banana Plugs?

Thanks for your help

The output from your PC is line output (I think. I get technical terms wrong). Sounds like what you need is an amplifier to drive the speakers.

How many speakers do you actually have in total?

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

The set came with 6, but I don't think that I'll have enough space to use all of them. 4 maybe?

I believe you actually need either a proper 5.1 surround amplifier, or enough amplifiers to drive the different channels in 4.1. If your mb has 3 ports then that's 3 amps (1 for front pair, 1 for rear pair, 1 for sub).

You might be right. Here is the manual. The chart on page 14 led me to believe that I would be able to have 5.1 surround or at least close to it.

Is there a model number on the sub? Or can you post a pic of the rear? I see they make wireless speakers. Perhaps you have those?

The inputs are only wires. They seem to be clipped into the back of the speakers. There are two loose connections at the end of each.

Great. So what sort of cable/cables do I need to plug these into my pc. And is there a good 5.1 Amp that would fit on a desk?

You'll need a 5.1 receiver and that will likely connect with either HDMI or RCA, you can't use HDMI with this setup as it stands.

I'm not really the right person to ask. I don't use this stuff and have no experience. However I think something like this would get you started.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33034997678.html

Now they offer 2 power supplies. The max being 24v 10A. By my reckoning that could only deliver 240W yet they say it's a 400W amplifier. So something doesn't add up. Basically I would expect 5 x 40W and 1 x 80W
