Does the crucial p1 (500gb) have dram?

so i looked at many nvme m.2 ssd with dram within my budget, samsung evo plus, adata 8200 pro.. but all provide 250 gb at 85$ price point, someone told about crucial p1, that seems to have 500gb at my budget, and it was out of stock everywhere, but i found one place where the crucial p1 500gb is in stock at 89$, i want to confirm that does the crucial p1 500gb have dram?

thanks,, also should i go for evo plus 250 or p1 500? how much better will day to day usage feel on 970 evo plus?

There would be no noticeable difference in day to day tasks.

The 970 evo will feel identical to the P1 in normal usage. 

 

Check if the Silicon Power A80 or the MP34, or sabrent rocket can be had for around the same price as those are better than the P1.

thanks.. wont get silicon power or sabrent rocket here..  can u tell me how much faster boot times will be on a 970 evo plusnvme m.2 than a 850 evo sata ssd?

No notable difference. 

 

P1 is a better pickup than either due to the extra space over the 970 evo. But for consumerload we are talking very minor differences.

someone in the review section said his boot times are lower from 15 seconds on a sata ssd to 5 seconds on a 970 evo plus, i am finding that a little hard to believe..

For day to day usage, literally zero difference. The P1 will lack a bit with reads/writes (thanks to QLC flash) but I would consider this outside of 'normal' usage anyways.

As am I lol, maybe they had a fresh install of windows with the NVME and their previous OS on the SSD had a ton of background running programs / bloatware? That could do it.

okk haha.. i have 3 tb wd blue and 1tb wd black and two 250gb 850 evo, i wanna plop in a 250 gb nvme as boot drive and convert my two 850 evos into game drives, i wanna keep games that i frequently play on the ssd .. but wow nvme market has so many choices,, its confusing

Yeah NVME is the new hot item lol. Just so you know there will not be much of an improvement if you are moving your OS from an 850 evo to the P1. The marketing of NVME is pretty BS for just normal usage. But if you combine the 850's in raid 0 you can double down on some performance and effectively have a single 500GB drive for game storage. If you do so just make sure you back up the data as creating a new raid config erases the data on those specific drives in order to build the array.

wow like i never knew abt this raid thing, can u tell me how do i set both up in raid 0? also i have another ssd.. crucial bx 500, can i pair with samsung 850 evo? i dont use the bx 500 on my main system is cz it dosnt have dram like the 850 evos..

For a raid config I would only use like drives, and keep in mind with raid 0 if one drive fails you lose all the data.

Looking at benchmarks there are minor increases.

 

Ive got both a decent NVMe drive and a good Sata drive as boot drives. And ive found no notable difference between them. Even if the sata drive is running on 9 year old hardware.

haha thanks.. and its fine. i just want to set the two 850 evos in raid and store only game data.. so games load quick af.. and not like game data is anything sensitive.. if its lost i can put new drive and redownload
