What Would You Want Companies to Do/Change and Why?

Yup, but the only AV output is has is HDMI, the other 2 ports are a USB-c charge and USB-c device as the budget for the machine only included one hole in the case and one port to fill it with.

Most dongles have USBC passthrough, also the Higher end pros have 4 ports

I would like all the companies that make streaming boxes to change their products to something else.

I don't feel like streaming serves everyone great in my country the USA.

In my experience I feel like it is only nice for people who live in towns or cities. For everyone else it is of not fun and painful to try to use.  🥴

I would like to see a service where you can buy a movie online then download and put it to a new type of form .  A card that looks like a flat plastic rectangle 4" wide x 5 1/2" long x 3/8" thick just at the bottom 1/2" of the length. The rest being only CD thickness. With a small hole for a peg or nail to hang it on.

People buy the blank cards. They buy the conversion device that plugs into their pc or phone to put the purchased downloads onto their cards. They print out their own pictures for the faces of the cards for their movie purchases or use the ones offered by movie makers. People buy the players for the movie cards.

It would be like movie baseball cards. If you know what I mean. People could collect them. hang them on a wall, display them in a cabinet or just keep them in a shoe box.  This would allow movies to still be sold digital download but people would have the pleasure of collecting the movies and displaying them. Plus it would generate more money in sales of the blank cards, printing supplies, the conversion devices to put the movies on the cards and the movie players. Lots of money to be made on hardware. It might even spark higher pc sales. It would be especially fun if a person could upgrade their movie card players hardware if they so desired.

On top of all that the large population of people in the US who can't stream in high quality enjoyment would have something good.

I think this would sell better in stores then the streaming boxes do because people love to have something new to play with and people love to collect stuff. I think it would be great all around for movie sales and hardware sales.

As consumers we need new consumer toys to play with and I just don't think streaming boxes gives us that either. They are boring to me.

Just how I feel about it but I bet it would make loads of money here in my country alone. 🙃

No... actually Steve Jobs was not an engineer at all. He didn't design the hardware or code any of the original Apple products. That was Steve Wozniak, his business partner and co-owner.

Steve Jobs was a visionary. He had a knack for designing the generals of products that people really wanted to use. He also had a knack for getting engineers to make those products work, and work well. And he had a knack for convincing people that they needed this system or that this system was better (even if that wasn't the case).

Apple still makes a lot of good products - Jobs wasn't the only one contributing to that. Though I do think that Cook isn't quite the visionary in terms of long term groundbreaking product direction, that Jobs was.

Eh, true, but still nice to at least have the option for it.

No... I mean, sure, some monitors - niche monitors, could certainly still come with DVI.

But as a standard? Hell no. DVI is old and outdated. Monitors should basically only come with DP and maybe HDMI - and VGA if it's a business class monitor, but even that's not as commonly required anymore.

Anyone who still has DVI can grab themselves a $10-15 DVI to DP adapter or a DVI to DP cable.

I don't think that would be commercially successful at all - people who live in rural areas can already just buy a DVD or Blu-Ray from somewhere like Amazon or even locally at Walmart/Best Buy over in the local town.

If their internet is too shit to stream, they're likely better off just buying a physical disc.

However, if their internet is good enough to download a movie? Why not just... buy a movie from Google Play or iTunes store? You can do that already. Buy it and download it to your device. Copying it to some kind of card/cartridge just seems like a massive waste of money and very unnecessary physical resources. If you want something physical, just buy the disc. Otherwise save yourself the money and just download it to your stream box or computer.

For Google, Apple, other software giants

STOP SHARING USER INFORMATION

Sure, they're mostly all based in America, where they're compelled to share information with the government. (side note, it's been found that practices used by the NSA and the CIA to be unconstitutional in America) but they also share information with other companies.

Facebook for example most likely has some data relating to you, even if you've never used it due to them having tracking services on a lot of websites and apps. They could always just not allow companies to do that. But alas, money. Everything is driven by money in the corporate world, and also what would prevent a mass exodus of users to a competing service.

Also, can the internet stop using Java script. It's a great language, with great features, but it can be used maliciously really easily. And good looking websites can be made without it. Simple, but not ugly.

I live in a rural area and that's what I do. I have a bunch of Blu-Rays and DVDs. To my surprise Walmart still carries a large section of movies on disk but I can almost never get what I want, when I want it, on the type of disk I want it on. Buying online and having it shipped is ok for me but still. A streamlined service that would have everything ever made and new hardware for me to play with. Along with having something additional that's fun to do with my computer would be nice. People used to love burning those CDs because is was something fun to do with their computers. If you know what I mean.

Also for me the disks take up too much space for what they are and my collection keeps on growing and growing. I like to have the movies physically though and I like the high quality playback that I know I can get no matter what my internet is doing. Something new, something smaller would be nice. Maybe even smaller then what I suggested.

If Blu-Ray were to be replaced, it would be with a mini-BD disc, most likely. Or perhaps a read only memory card of some kind.

But even if they did that, it would be like buying a physical Switch game - a memory card inside a retail box/case.
