Running Two 1 Gigabit Ports Benefits?

Uhmkevinkev

Are there any benefit of running two 1 gigabit ports on the same pc because my mother board comes with one which is a intel lan and one pcie slot that came with the mobo on a killer nic.

currently only running the killer nic card and it does make you have better ping while downloading or upload.

On a desktop, not really, unless you have multiple clients connect to you.

Is there anything particular you want to achieve with 2 ports?

not really. I just use it for downloading and uploading to the other pcs in the house.

You can't bond/aggregate those ports because they are not on the same card (read up on LACP).

You can have a machine connected behind your existing one if you wish so, but that is eliminated by using a router.

Something wrong with your connection ?

Run the damn cable :)

There is absolutelly no real world benefits, unless of you have a local server that you keep files on and you are constantlly transfering files. Odds are you don't have a 1Gbps internet connection so having 2 cables is useless.
