4K Monitor for After Effects and gaming

Hey guys can anyone recommend a good monitor for my new Pc. I usually create motion graphic templates in A.E and I will also be doing a good bit of gaming. I have a RTX 2070 Super if that helps . I currently have an Acer R271 which has been okay but since I'm going 4K Id like at least a 32" inch monitor. My budget is around £800 but I could stretch it a little. Thanks for any recommendations.

I have done a lot of searching but I thought I'd ask possibly some one might recommend one that I maybe haven't come across...
Some features that i was looking for in the monitor;

  • Wide Color Gamut: atleast 95 - 100% in either SRGB or DCI-P3??
  • HDR
  • Freesync or G-Sync
  • Nothing higher than 5ms response time
  • IPS Panel
  • Id like to get a monitor that would take advantage of the features of my gpu

What kind of hdr are u looking for ? real hdr or * h d r * :D

dci p3 is alot bigger then the standart srgb color space so getting 100% srgb is easy 100% dci p3 not so much

For real hdr at 4k there is only the x27 or asus pg27uq but they cost alot and are only 27

If your fine with hdr ish u should take a look at the 32 inch lg models

I would start with these two.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/32ud99-w

Rtings also has monitor filter which is really useful tool when looking for a monitor. I've filtered it down to roughly your requirments.

https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/table/30012

You can put on more filters from the add column button.

You'll also want to read trough this topic, as it has a lot of good information.

Ha yea Ive read that alot of the monitors that claim to offer HDR is not actually HDR 🤔. Id like the real thing but I wont break the bank for it... Color gamut wise, I just want something that will display accurate colors and after some research those were the ones recommended. Not even sure I need DCI-P3 for motion graphics designs templates tho since customers will most likely change it to fit their needs. Anyways thanks for your reply.

Niiice... thanks alot for the reply and the links. I'll check them out. What's your thoughts on the whole color gamut thing. Is a high percentage of DCI-P3 actually needed for motion graphics design.

I'm gonna start by saying that I don't do that kind of stuff. But if colors are important for you, you should calibrate your monitor yourself so you'll want to look for a monitor with a good sdr color gamut and pay extra attention to the post calibration results.

This article might help you also.

And @SolarNova can probably help you even more with that kind of stuff.

Edit:

You might also want to look into the ultrawides, as they would increase your selection.

Whether or not DCI-P3 is needed for ur particular work is a question best to be answered by urself.. I'm not a motion graphics designer so i have no idea if its needed for that particular industry.

However, DCI-P3 is predominantly used by content creatures that want to create within the HDR spec.

AdobeRGB is whats used for photographic work and print.

As has already been pointed out, consumer level Monitors dont tend to have very higher levels of DCI P3 gamut coverage or volume, so u'd have to look at very expensive professional display for that.

In addition , the specs ur after ..honestly ur just not going to find everything ur after in one display.

These are the closest ur gunna find (that have been tested and reviewed by rtings)

Theres more consumer options when u go down to 1440p. But again ur not looking at AdobeRGB or DCI-p3 over 90% ..ur looking at 75%- 85%
