Confusing 6+2 8 pin connectors from PSU

bluecew
Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

The 2 pin that is literally beside the 6 pin...

They go together...

You literally can't make it reach any other way...

That cable has two seaprate 6+2 pins on it, that's why the wires go from one to the other.

It doesn't matter which one you use.

You can use both at the same time if your GPU has two 8 pins or 8+6 pin.

I wanted to install a new GPU that requires an 8 pin connector. Upon opening my case, I discovered something very confusing.

I have two 8 pin connectors which are 6+2 connectors but for some reason they are tangled together. As you can see from the photo, the top connectors are tangled together and the bottom connectors look normal. But here’s the thing: Some of the wires from the top 2 pin connector also goes to the bottom connectors, and some of the wires from the top 6 pin connector also goes to the bottom connectors as well. This gets me really confused, which 2 pin is paired with which 6 pin??

You're holding one 6+2 in your hand, and the other 6+2 is dangling down. Use the 6+2 in your hand, and just tie the one that's danging down out of the way.

You're overthinking this.

EDIT:  And blow that dust out while you have your PC open.
