Heard HDMI is baaaaaaaaaad, what should I connect my monitor to pc with?

What's the best and did I hear correctly that using a HDMI  cable to connect my monitor to my PC is bad?

 

I'm saving up for a pc and monitor for gaming, right now I only have a laptop so I'm not too educated on the nitty gritty stuff like this please don't roast me lol

For a 75Hz+ monitor a display port cable is recommended, often HDMI cannot support higher refresh rates. But it is not necessarily bad by any means.

HDMI isnt bad, it's just hard to find a monitor that supports 144hz streaming via HDMI. Most HDMI outputs support it, but many inputs don't. I'd recommend displayport if your use is for gaming, but if your monitor supports HDMI at 144hz (and your monitor is 144hz), then I'd stick with HDMI. If your monitor is 60hz, then definitely stick with the HDMI

I have not heard such a thing, however the most popular connector for gaming PC's would be Display Port.

Main downsides with HDMI is that it can be unplugged by accident easier and it's harder to find higher refresh rate monitors with it. Otherwise, there's nothing really that poor with it.

hdmi is not bad. It is perfectly find for media consumption. HDMI is redundant if using a high frequency gaming monitor or VR. I have to use DP with my 144HZ samsung. I use HDMI with my 4k TV.

THAT'S IT, that's what I heard riiiight I forgot! Do you know what cable I should use if I had a 144hz monitor in that scenario?

Other comment cleared it up, I watched a couple Linus videos where he clowned HDMI. hi, srry for the late reply, but yes, basically all HDMI cables support 144hz. 144Hz at 1080p, 75Hz at 1440p, and 30Hz at 4K (this is if your cable is HDMI 1.4 as opposed to 2.0/2.1). Make sure, if your getting a gaming monitor, that it has hdmi 2.0/2.1 input
