Not being able to install a driver

Hello. im currently using a gt 730 paird witn an intel i5 4570. i recently tried launching fortnite which gave me a little prompt saying that my driver version is known to have problems with the game and they recommend using the updated driver which is 445.87 and im currently on 391.35. I searched the recommended d river and saw that it states my gpu is supported by it. when i further download the driver and try installing it in faced with this problem that ill add in the picture which basically means my device is not supported. is there a fix to this or do i have to live with an old driver?

What version of Windows 10 (?) are you running?

If you are a much older version (e.g. 1709, 1803 or something), you would first bring it up-to-date first.

 

Usually, it is recommended to uninstall the old drivers first, before you install the new ones.

Not recommended to install the new on top of the old either.

How do i know what version of windows im running and how to upgrade it?

You should be able to update it through regular Windows 'Update & Security.'

im running 1909. i also tried installing it after uninstalling the old driver and still no luck. :/

Ah okay...weird.

 

Try this:

  • Grab the one-older 442.74 driver as well, so you have both that and 445.87
  • Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)
  • Follow the steps, and let it is completely wipe / clean-up any existing left-over nVidia GeForce drivers and files 
  • Remember the reboot steps are important
  • Try driver version 445.87 again; if it does not work, try the older 442.74

See how that goes...

I tend to find that lots of folders and files tends to get left behind after a GeForce driver uninstall, and can cause some issues.

Hopefully DDU should resolve that.
