3300X vs 2600

I was planning to buy a ryzen 5 2600 non x but the new ryzen 3 came out. Is the 3300X better option? Planning to pair it with a GTX 1660.

For purely gaming the 3300X with 3600mhz CL16 RAM might be like 10% faster in the best cases.

 

but are you in the US? because the RX 5700 isn't much more expensive and is a good deal faster

Depends, are you on a tight budget. Yes the 2600 is intrinsically better but better can be subject based on needs

My budget is around 450$.2600 is a 6-core and the 3300X is a quad core but the 3300X has a higher clock speed so I can't decide. I am planning to use it mosly for gaming

The 3300X would be closer to 20% faster. I would bet that the 3300X would only be 5-10% slower in multi-thread.

That is my main concern. Higher clock and brand new or higher core count and older cpu

the higher clock speeds and potentially higher memory speed support makes up for the lack of extra cores IMO.

Not in the US. That is my main problem. All parts are more expensive in my country

i have the 2600 paired with a 5700 GPU and i think the 2600 never gets a good workout in games. The highest spec game i have is RDR2 and that really sacks the GPU.

2600 is around 150$ and the 3300X is not available yet but in linus' latest video he says it is around 120$ in the US so it will be around 150$ in my county
