Enable Threads to be Moved by OP

Boomwebsearch
Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

It's not possible with the forum software as it is, and people request for their own topics to be moved pretty infrequently so for the time being it makes more sense to just move topics on request via reports than to invest in modifying the forum software to support that.

HI,

I would like to suggest a feature which would allow threads to be moved within the forums by the original poster, sometimes posts get posted under General Discussion or the wrong subform and would be better to be moved to another subform. I don't see it as a security concern for the threads to be moved around by the original poster, although I might be wrong.

Please let me know what you think about this feature suggestion,

Thanks,

So that people can bump their own threads up by moving it from one place to another?

Or do it repeatedly so that people don't know where to find a thread?

Yeah no thanks.

If you need a thread moved just report it and a mod will do it, doesn't happen that often anyway and 99% of the time that it does it's because the OP doesn't know where the right place is anyway.

So if they don't know where the right place is in the first place, how would they know to move it.........

Mods and Admins could have the ability to lock certain threads in place within a certain subforum if necessary.

A lot of times, people make posts in the General Discussion or in the incorrect subforum and later realize it.

It does not have to be that a thread needs to be bumped when it gets moved to a different subforum. There could be a limitation on how many times a thread can be moved in a certain amount of time or in total before only a mod/admin can move it.

Amount of people who report their own thread for moving is rather low vs all threads even just I move per day. Even added those who report others threads for moving is drop in a bucket compared. This is not issue of feature not being there, but people being lazy and unconsidered. Most will dump thread to GD knowing well that it will be then moved by moderator while browsing. Some just pick a subforum where they think it will fit best, while that not being correct one (new build posts in PC Gaming or Windows posts in Operating Systems main).
