So i've been looking for a new cpu. And i like to stay faith and continue with intel because i just like intel frankly enough. Anyone have a recommendation for a great cpu 8th or 9th gen under £100($124). I was thinking about going with a i3 9100f as then i could put that £30 towards my motherboard budget. Can I just have an ask please, i know amd is better value for money, but please just don't suggest an AMD i like to be brand loyal. Thanks

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

GPU: Gigabyte gtx 1660 Super oc 6g
Mobo:MSI b450 tomahawk max

RAM: 32gb ddr4 lpx vengeance 3200mhz

Storage: WD sn550 1tb, Baracuda 2TB HDD (*In use), Hitachi 2tb HDD, WD 0.5tb HDD (both HDD knackered)

PSU: cxm 450

Case: Corsair Carbide Series

you can't buy a motherboard for that money.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Like i said in the post yes I know AMD is better value for money. But I have a maximum budget of £100 and for the amount of money the i3 9100f is I think it is reasonable.

Intel's current offerings are very poor value and lose in almost all cases to their AMD counterparts. For your budget, Intel actually have nothing even remotely good. The i3 9100F is a horrible CPU and a Ryzen 5 1600AF is worlds faster for less money.

It's not. The same money gets you a six core Zen+ based 1600AF. It's on par with the i5 8400 or better.

So I keep getting told when do I like Intel, well its like with clothes brands or phones brands one you like something you like it. The extra money is going towards my £150 budge for a nice motherboard

nothing is reasonable about a locked quad core with a bad upgrade path at that price tag.

What is your total budget for the system, and are you only getting a new CPU and board?

an 80 pound CPU with a 200 pound board is absurd. You can EASILY get an 8-core AMD CPU and a good board for that money...

It's not. The R5 1600 AF is significantly better and it will last much much longer. All of that for 85$. Not sure if you can find that CPU for 85$ in your country but i'm sure you can find the R5 2600 for just a little more than 100$

I would wait for the Intel 10th gen processors which are expected to give a significant performance benefit over 9th gen or older. Although, at the moment, Ryzen CPUs are in the lead for delivering better performance for the budget.

I would recommend a Ryzen 3 3200G at the moment for a good budget CPU at the moment, otherwise if you really want an Intel branded chip, I would highly recommend waiting for Intel 10th gen which is to bring a lot better performance at a similar price point to older generations which will likely drop in price also.

You can just get an AM4 bracket for 5 pounds an use it on the Ryzen CPU?

With your total 250 quid budget, a 2700X 8-core or 3600 6-core with a B450 Steel Legend is optimal

This isn't a quote but just a question does other parts like psu and ram and other parts of a pc that aren't motherboard and cpu depend on a certain brand like intel or AMD

Nope - you can use AMD + Nvidia, Intel + Nvidia, AMD + AMD and it doesn't matter. The only thing connected to the CPU brand is the socket type.

Alright the only reason i was asking was that my overall budget for this upgrade is more like £200($250), that is why when you guys suggest these cpus, I cannot afford some of them as their not in my budget range.

Well, ideally, you want say a Ryzen 5 1600/1600AF/3600 and a B450 Pro4 or Steel Legend

Getting a cheaper(decent) MB wouldn't be enough for a 3600 so I went with one of the best B450 boards instead.

if you wait some weeks the new ryzen 3 chips will come out, they offer a lot price/performance ratio, and they are much better than the 9100f. the 3300x (120$) is as strong as a 7700k.
