So i've been looking for a new cpu. And i like to stay faith and continue with intel because i just like intel frankly enough. Anyone have a recommendation for a great cpu 8th or 9th gen under £100($124). I was thinking about going with a i3 9100f as then i could put that £30 towards my motherboard budget. Can I just have an ask please, i know amd is better value for money, but please just don't suggest an AMD i like to be brand loyal. Thanks

$124 i'd just swallow my pride and get a wait to get a 3300x

Alright the only reason i was asking was that my overall budget for this upgrade is more like £200($250), that is why when you guys suggest these cpus, I cannot afford some of them as their not in my budget range.

for that budget:

PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item Price
CPU Intel Core i5-9400 2.9 GHz 6-Core OEM/Tray Processor £147.90 @ Amazon UK
Motherboard MSI B365M PRO-VDH Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard £65.98 @ Amazon UK
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
  Total £213.88

You can go for a 6 core Intel CPU but the motherboard is not great. It's a better idea to save extra money if you're dead set on team blue.

As for the AMD side of things:

PCPartPicker Part List
Type Item Price
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor £150.51 @ Amazon UK
Motherboard Gigabyte B450M S2H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard £64.98 @ Amazon UK

You can afford some really nice options and get quite a lot more performance.

any workload that could use 32GB of ram would need a beefy CPU anyway.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

You need to change the OS whatever you do. You can't change platform and keep your drivers...

If you change the board - you change the OS. It's how it goes. Else you end up with a massive software mess of chipset drivers, CPU firmware and other bloat.

So right now I am rocking a pentium g4560 a gigabyte b250m ds3h and 32gb of ram 3200mhz.

I see why people are suggesting AMD and they are somewhat right. You are looking for a new motherboard and Intel CPU, but if your RAM that you spent a bit of money on is AMD compatible then I would consider the AMD option if it is better value. I do not know what the market is like in your country, so hopefully PCpartpicker is close enough.

If the cheaper Ryzen 5 1600 AF 12nm is available in your country, then maybe go for that instead.

In my experience looking for a used Intel 4c/8t i7 CPU for an upgrade, I found that the prices were ridiculously high and in my case there would be no upgrade path after that, so when looking for the more affordable performance that I wanted it was AMD that came to the rescue.

The i3 9100f  may be very cheap, but if gaming and other higher CPU demanding tasks is something you want do in the future then AMD Ryzen just becomes the better buy for us cheapskates.
