Thoughts on my 1440p 144hz mid-highend Build

This will be my first gaming build so I am very open to suggestion. As said in the title, I am planning a 1440p 144hz mid-high range build hopefully under 3000$ Canadian rupee (~2133.76USD). This budget including a decent monitor. Please see my specs below and look out for some further questions I put after:

As you can see I chose the R5 3600 paired with a Cooler Master heat sink. From what I have seen this is a great value I'd love to hear your thoughts. Should I spend more and opt for the 3700x and ditch the heatsink? This will be a gaming only rig with some very minimal software development so I didn't see the need for an 8c cpu for the some time.

 

Furthermore, I would like a 2070 super but am open to discussion here within nVidia for now(I.e. Would the 2060 be better value? How would it far with 1440p 144hz? Etc). More specifically, I wanted to ask about my decision to go with the ROG Strix 2070 super. Is this a good desicion? I know it is rated high in the tier list but why not save and get the EVGA 2070 SUPER BLACK GAMING for over 100CAD less and focus on good heat management in the case?

I would recommend swapping this out for a DeepCool Gammaxx 400 LED which is $13.01 cheaper while giving better cooling performance.

The 2070 super is the perfect card for 1440p 144hz gaming. I would say upgrade your ram to 3600mhz, upgrade the pay to an 80plus gold unit, swapping the motherboard to the MSI one with built in WiFi. Also you can save money by going with the gigabyte wind force with three fans. I do recommend 3 fans for the 2070 supers or at least 2.5 slot cards.

Good God do not pay that much for that motherboard. Way more than it's worth, you can get X570 boards for pretty much the same price.

For a little more you can get this:

You can also get a Crucial P1 1TB for substantially less than that. SSD is a rip off.

The cooler is trash. There are many, many better options out there.

Just as good of a cooler for a lot less.

Motherboard with WiFi.

Better value NVME drive.

I personally cannot recommend the 2070S, for $850cad.... I bought by 1080Ti new for less than that, and with Nvidis releasing new cards this year I would be gutted spending $850 on a 2070S. The Rx 5700XT is nearly identical in gaming performance for a LOT less.

Better airflow case = better thermals = better performance.

Much better quality PSU.

I agree with most of what you said, I just wouldn’t cheap out that much on the case or cpu cooler. The 2070S looks a bit overpriced in CA right now.

Cheaper case but in terms of airflow it is superior to the H510, and it still has a TG panel.

Same goes for the air cooler, paying more money for pretty well aesthetics only, the R5 3600 runs pretty cool. 

Nothing wrong with those choices, just won't yield any performance return for the money spent.

The H500 has good airflow as long as you set it up with the default fan configuration and has more cooler compatibility support if he upgrades in the future. Check out gamer's nexus review or Greg Salazar's review if you don't believe me. It is 80$ more than yours, but part of that comes from the better ram since he wants to do 144fps. Ryzen automatically overclocks when you lower the temperature so a better cooler will give higher FPS (probably only marginal differences though).

You lowered the build cost by choosing better parts, really good, but didn't really do anything with the extra money?  I know he said he was stretching budget and it was $2k, but if you can stretch, worth showing why it is worthwhile.

 

Better CPU and better MB still comes out better than original build price.

 

However, this doesn't really improve gaming, at 1440p.

This second list improves gaming experience, buy upping the GPU, but is very similar to earlier budget, $40 dollars more.

 

I did take you down to 500gb NVMe, but for now that is sufficient to gain the improvements in performance.  You can buy another one in 6 months.
