a researcher at security firm Duo recently used an AMD Radeon Pro WX 3100 video card as a radio transmitter to transmit data, all without physically modifying the hardware. This allowed him to receive the data through a wall 50 feet away, thus stealing data from an air-gapped PC. 

Since rules dictate I must add a hot take: big if true. Though I wonder if this is a result of anything AMD is doing specifically or if this would be possible on Nvidia GPU's as well, but all the researchers had access to were AMD workstations?

So air gapped PCs aren't also in a faraday cage?  You'd think that would be common sense.

This was shown off two years ago with CPUs as well. Attackers could get valuable info simply by being near the CPU

Stealing data from airgapped PCs via unintentional radio transmission is old.  Used to be a thing with CRTs.  Detecting transmission is easy.  Transmitting is more unusual.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
