I would personally get the HD598's or the Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro's and a Blue yeti.

Ryzen 1600@3.8ghz / 16gb 2400mhzASRock B350 ITX / Gigabyte RX 470 4gb / 256gb M.2 / SG13B-Q / Corsair 450w

NXG NX-HTDJ + V-MODA BoomPro Order from the .com site (yes it's possible). Shipping would likely be more, but probably not as much as the higher price of the items if ordered from the .ca site.

Now, I know you're saying, "ShearMe, that's only $45! My budget is $300, so surely there's something better?"

I mean, I guuueeeessss you could go with a Sennheiser PC 360 if you reeeaaalllllyy wanted, and it might be slightly more comfortable after you break the pads in, and that noise canceling mic might sound a tad better to your dopey friends in plebian skype land...

...or you can save $120 (from the .com site prices) and be happy with your not-so-run-of-the-mill cheapo headphone + great detachable mic.

I actually have never experienced that "noise cancelling" in the mic. I dunno how it's supposed to work. too bad I lent them out to my little brother, otherwise I'd go test stuff out today.

Audio technica ath-m50 and at2020 with a blue icicle.

why not just get the AT2020 USB? and it's overkill for just voip, a snowflake is more than sufficient. Also, M50's are really bad for gaming, their soundstage is SO narrow.

OP: if you want closed, I'd take a look at beyerdynamic DT770 (250 ohm) or those V-Moda's, they're quite bass heavy, I don't know if you'd like that or not, if not, take a look at Shure SRH440 with 840 pads. For open headphones, take a look at Sennheiser's 518 or 558, or even 598 if you like the look of them. also, DT990's (250 ohm) or Audio Technica ATH-AD700X, but they have virtually no bass.
