Hey, so I'm a big gamer and I see a lot of my friends paying 30$ for PC tweaks from guys on twitter that have like 100k+ followers. These tweaks all seem to work for their computers (decreasing ping, and increasing FPS in game LARGELY +300 or more). I was wondering if anyone knows any tweaks that can generally decrease ping or increase FPS in game. Nothing basic like high performance mode or OC'ing your ram. Anything that isn't really obvious or anything that is not commonly known. Any tips are appreciated <3!

Not really sure what you mean by tweaks. What have these people told your friend?

Here is one of the guys offering this service to people.

When I say tweak I mean everything he has in his bio, or if you don't want go to the link, the following things:

•FPS boost

•Stable/consistent FPS

•Responsive system

•Smoother gameplay

•Potential Ping Reduction

•System repair

I picked that up, but you said your friend had them do something. Do you know what?

You don't just get extra gpu/cpu performance out of no where, especially from someone doing remote work. Seems like a scam

Yeah no, I have no clue and neither do they. I would say it is a scam as well but when pro players are tweeting at the guy saying it helped them it makes me believe its legit. Whatever hes doing is clearly working because he wouldn't have 20k followers and reputation from pro players and known people on twitter.

20,000 followers can easily be farmed by claiming a fake business schemes.

Anything they do should be easily done on your own without spending 30£.

If what they're doing is true, it seems like general system cleanup.

Pro players, or bots/people pretending to be pro players? Have you actually verified that those people are who/what they claim to be?

Most of these descriptions are pretty vague / subjective. I would stay away from this.

My guess would be the following.

Disabling non-essential system services.

Changing the MTU Size.

Changing QoS Settings.

Disabling Memory Compression.

Disabling File Compression.

Disabling Specter and Meltdown workarounds.

Adjusting the Built in visual performance options.

BS detected.

how is overclocking considered a "basic fix"? it's one of the most advanced moves one can make to increase computer performance.

I wouldnt say enabling xmp is very advanced at all. Let alone one of the most advanced.

Standard overclocking these days is about as basic as it gets.

Perhaps to you overclocking isn't necessarily difficult to do, especially with convenience features like xmp, but it's far more advanced than the usual stuff like disabling background processes, changing some windows settings, or even adjusting the in-game settings for graphics.

Id say its basically the same.

Whats the difference between going into msconfig and changing values vs going into bios and changing some values?

If anything the bios settings being changed are much easier and safer because if you mess anything up a lot of time the bios will reset itself and if not you can clear it yourself easily.

All of it is very basic at this point. I could see that overclocking for novice users could be a little more scary but id hardly classify it as "advanced".

If it was really that easy to do all of that for 30 bucks, then it would've been a pinned discussion here by now.

Anything about ping is 100% scam. Ping is the time it takes package get from you to server. As normal situation is already good. So if you have bad ping, there's some very clear reason for it. You might be connecting to server which is far from you or someone else is eating up your connection. Those are to most common things.

You can get 300+ fps by turning all settings to low and running low resolutions.

There is no magic setting list.  Windows runs games pretty well right out of the box, there are very few things you can tweak to get big gains.  Big gains come from settings/resolution.

Nothing worse than someone who fully believes in the scam they bought into.  Sorry your friends are drinking the koolaid.
