2000-2500$ Canadian Build

Hi everyone,

Because of everything going on and the fact that I won't have any classes for another month, I'm looking into building my first PC. My budget is around $2000-2500 CAD including taxes and shipping, which bumps it down to $1700-2100. I would like to get a 1440p curved display and would need the computer to be balanced between productivity/school work and gaming. I do need peripheral except for anything audio. Would anyone have any suggestion for the best system I could build for the money?

Thanks a lot for the help!

Something like this should work great for both gaming at 1440p and any school work you might want to throw at it.

I've left the rest of the $2000-2500 budget for peripherals.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

Thanks for the lists guys! I've read that the MSI X570 mobos should be avoided and that the Asus ones were better. Is that correct? Also, do you have any recommendations for a good 1440p curved display?

Spoiler

Regarding the power supply, do I need 650W or will 550W be enough? Looking at the part picker list below, PcPartPicker only expects a power usage of 374W. I know we need to have a little cushion, but is it worth it to pay the extra 35$ for 100W?

550W will be more than enough for this system, but if you don't think you can put the extra $35 towards something else that might offer more performance, then by all means you could go for a 650W just for that extra headroom.

Honestly i would go with the 650 watt just to be extra safe, it allows you to upgrade in the future, or just add more stuff like drives, cooling, and more without needing to upgrade the psu as well

Yeah, I thought that as well and saw it on sale, so I went for the 650W.

Oh also, @Shooterdude34 or anyone else, would you have a recommendation for an AIO or an air cooler for possible overclocking in the future? Can I overclock a bit with the stock cooler?

id reccomend a 240mm aio, pretty much any name brand aio out there will be pretty good. My friend uses an evga aio for his vr pc, which stays on 24/7 and he hasnt had any issues
