High idle frequencies 1080ti with 144hz

Hello guys, ive recently bought a 144hz monitor, HP 22x, and if i connect both my new and old monitor (60hz) togheter my idle frequencies never go down, around 720MHz core and 5508 memory. Also the power never go below 50% that for a 250W card is a pretty high power consumption for doing nothing. Both monitors are connected with HDMI, is there something that i can do to solve this? If i set 120hz the problem go away but honestly seems a waste to not use all the Hz available.

Ive just used DDU and reinstalled the latest driver, nothing changed, windows is pretty fresh ive reinstalled it one week ago.

It could be just the idle load. Just idling at the desktop, 1440p at 60Hz and another screen at 1440p 144Hz is still load on a GPU.

 

For me, I have two 1440p 60Hz monitors and my 1080p 60Hz Cintiq, and my 1080 Ti idles at 1392MHz, GPU usage near 0%, and power at 23-25%. If I turn my cintiq off, my clocks do drop.

But if i use 120Hz instead of 144, it idles perfectly at 139MHz and power stays at 7/8%.

It did the same to me when i wen i plugged a third monitor 1080p. Already have a 4k and a 1080p.... Weird...

I've heard that enabling windows Performance mode (in power settings) could also cause idle clocks to be higher. I haven't verified this though.

 

My 144hz + 60 hz monitors cause my 1080ti to sit idle at the 1300mhz range as well.

Well, less frame rate at 120Hz. I'm guessing there's some kind of behind the scenes threshold where Nvidia decides what Hz / resolution combinations makes their GPUs idle at.

 

I do remember my 1080 Ti idling at 768MHz on two screens.

 

It's never bothered me because my GPU isn't heating up at all or using a lot of power. My 980 Ti did the same when I had it.

My temperatures go from 30 to 46/47, so i think it uses a lot of power for just idling. Im also trying to set a custom resolution to try to see if it makes any difference and seems like it idles perfectly till 130hz.
