SATA Ports and Video Cards

I wonder why motherboard manufacturers put their sata ports the same height as the first PCI slot?  The trouble is that video card will cover your ports making cable installation problem.  Wouldn't it be more convenient if the SATA ports were located near the 24 pin or closer to the upper-right corner.  It feels scary to remove a video card especially if you decided to water cool it.

I guess it has got something to do with sata signal integrity which could be compromised by the power delivered from the 24-pin. Some manufacturers are nice and turn them 90° so they don't come close to you gpu

Because the sata ports have to go through the southbridge which is also what PCIe has to go through, and the south bridge is on the south of the motherboard.

Motherboards that don't come with 90 degree SATA ports are usually cheap boards. You wouldn't plug long graphics cards in them anyway because long cards are usually very expensive.
