DylanDB

Just recieved my Ryzen 7 3700X system.

Now looking to buy a cheap used card.

I have 3 options

RX Vega 64 from Asus Strix for 290€

Gigabyte Windforce OC GTX 1080 for 325€

MSi Gaming X GTX 1070 Ti for 250€

I play every game at 1080P @ 144Hz.

Now is my question, which card has the least chance to produce a lot of noise (fans), and has the least chance of having coil whine?

Out of those three I'd go for the 1080, as the Strix Vega 64 has some cooling issues and the 1070Ti is slightly slower. Also, there's no way to know which one has the least chance of producing coil whine as it can even vary between the same exact model of cards.

That being said, at that price (which isn't really "cheap" territory) I reckon you should be able to get a new RTX 2060 or RX 5600XT, maybe even a 2060 Super/5700? With these you should be getting similar performance, lower power consumption and...warranty?

Edit: Actually for €75 less the 1070Ti might be the better deal, compared to the 1080, as it doesn't fall that far behind in performance to justify the premium for the 1080.

the strix and the gaming x are higher end models, while the windforce will give more performance, but has a lower quality cooler.

Gaming X 1070ti is the best deal.

MSI gaming cards are also very quiet.

i like radeon 5700 for 300 dlr. then flash it to 5700 xt ------------------------------------| PROFIT|    LOL

1./you get warranty brand new

2./its easy to flash it to a 5700 xt

3./you save 100 dlrs and get more perf.

4./you are getting a brand new architeqture and better resale price in the future.

318,- ... of 329,-

But 250,- for the 1070ti is good, nonetheless.

From a V64 user. Its fast, a strix card its actualy good.

it will be the fastest card out of the 3 sometimes really near the 1080ti, Vulkan and dx12 is almost the same.

You have HBCC and you can extend your vram, mine is always at 16g

With just a bit of undervolt you can get thos temps down without an issue.

Now from uk prices

dont get used V64 or any of those you have there.

Get a rx5700 pulse or powercolor one with 2 fans.

Its fast and good.

You can check my v64 performance on my youtube channel xkstreamworks, its the only way I can show it .

Hope it helps

I have a Vega 56 and newer drivers have put its performance pretty close to the 1080 so I would assume the 64 would put it closer to an RTX 2070 in terms of performance. But out of those 3 I feel the 1070 Ti is the better deal of the three. As previously stated, I would check prices on a new RX 5700 before I jump the gun on the used market.

Intel Core i7 9700F / Cooler Master 212 Evo / GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER / 16 GB G.SKILL RAM @ 2666MHz / GA-B365M-DS3H / EVGA 500w PSU

HP Pavilion Gaming 15 / Ryzen 5 4600H / GeForce GTX 1050 / 8 GB @ 3200MHz

Those prices are between 300-400€

The RX Vega 64 is the best out of 1080, 1070 Ti and vega 64?
