Corsair non-standard bottom row?

I've heard people complaining about this but I can't find anything with the bottom row on my Corsair keyboard? Am I an idiot or has Corsair remedied this?

Yes, Corsair uses non standard bottom row.

K55 is membrane btw, you can't change the keycaps anyway so it doesn't really matter.

That board seems to have a somewhat non-standard bottom row too, as it looks like the Ctrl on the left is larger than the Windows on the left (while by default they are the same size). But that doesn't matter much, since you can't change them out anyways

Corsair mech keyboards have a non-standard bottom row, what is meant by that is that keyboards have a standard in how large each key should be.

1u = 19.05mm.

 

Most keys (like your letters, esc. etc.) are 1u. But you probably know there are different sized keys. Like your Left Shift, Right Shift, Tab, Caps Lock, Enter, etc. are larger keys.

This is the standard layout:

This shows the row a key is one (your F-keys are taller than the Ctrl for example, usually) and the height (all of the heights are 1 unit with this ANSI layout) and of course the width.

 

WASDKeyboards has a decent diagram/image that shows the standard and non-standard bottom rows:

keep in mind there may be more manufacturers that also have these non-standard sizes. Keep in mind also some keycap sets come with multiple layout versions.

Also keep in mind Corsair keyboard keycaps are generally... Awful IMO.

Honestly I love my corsair strafe keyboard and as a bonus their icue software is mildly competent unlike razer's software.

The cherry key switches feel great the overall build is decent though.

Cherry switches are far from the best these days, the build quality is meh. Value for the money is far from great.

Considering I bought it 2 or 3 years ago now I wouldn't be surprised if cherry switches aren't the best anymore especially with the patent running out a while ago now.
